Literature Survey
A staggering 2.7 million tons of plastic waste are generated in the Philippines each
year, and an estimated 20 percent ends up in the ocean. The Philippines is the third
largest contributor with an estimated 0.75 million metric tons of mismanaged plastic
entering the ocean every year. Plastic debris were still among the top wastes collected
in the area of Sablayan. Aside from these, there are also plastic wastes in the 24 to 25
tons of trash generated by the town everyday. Broken glass is difficult to sort, most
manufacturers require recyclable glass to be sorted. According to Recycle Across
America, “More than 28 billion glass bottles and jars end up in landfills every year
that is the equivalent of filling up two Empire State Buildings every three weeks.
”The major environmental impact of glass production is caused by atmospheric
emissions from melting activities. "Tile prices have been increased by 10% with
effect in a month. The prices have been revised thrice in the past three months due to
the increased prices of natural gas and other fuels." The jump of 50% in spot gas
prices in one month could also compound the cost inflation problems of tile
companies. The purpose of this study is to test if wastes plastic and crushed glass can
be an alternative component in making tiles, to help lessen the amount of waste
pollution in our community and at the same time solve another problem, which is the
increasing price of tiles that is commonly use in different part of our house. We want
to help our community by creating a lessen amount of tiles. And to provide a safe and
responsible environment in terms of recycling plastic waste and some hazardous
materials like broken glass. And to Save environment for the better future.
Objectives
A. Main Objectives
- The main objectives of this study is to determine the effectiveness of crashed glass and
plastic waste as an alternative component in making tiles.
Methodology
A. MATERIALS
Before the experimentation, the researcher will gather all the materials such as: Crashed
glass, weighing scale, plastic waste, flat bar, sand, white cement, dye resin, water, epoxy
resin, compressor.
B. PROCEDURES
The first stage in producing tiles is gathering the materials needed. Plastic trash will be
ground into small particles when the materials are collected. Low become crushed glass,
broken glass must be pulverized. The weight of the raw material must be measured next. The
raw ingredients must be mixed together after the proper weight of each raw element is
calculated. The mixture will then be placed in a molder and heated for 1.5 days in the sun. It
will then be baked for 15 minutes at 400℉ degrees Fahrenheit. The dye resin is then
combined with epoxy resin and poured onto the tiles, where it is allowed to dry for 24 hours.
A. MOLDER ASSEMBLY
The cut flat bar will be arc welding with the size of 5 inches width and length.
B. BLUEPRINT
FLATBARS
C. PRODUCT FUNCTION TESTING
Water absorption capacity test and impact resistant test of crashed glass and plastic waste
will be tested.
C. RISK MANAGEMENT
The only hazardous materials are the broken glass. We'll also use safety equipment like
glass to collect broken glasses. When it comes to grinding the broken glass, we'll ask the
assistance of experts to see if we can pulverize it with equipment.
D. LIMITATIONS
For now, the focus of this study is to test if wastes plastic and crushed glass can be an
alternative component in making tiles, to help lessen the amount of waste pollution in our
community and at the same time solve another problem, which is the increasing price of tiles
that is commonly use in different part of our house.

Budget Justification
I am convinced that this project will require a significant sum of money, as I am unsure of
the exact amount. Yet, I believe that this project will be worthwhile. The instruments are also
readily found on the market, So I have no doubts in terms of time, I am confident that in a
month or two my project will be published as complete.
