Instructions for Assignment

1. All questions are compulsory.
2. Read each question carefully before writing an answer.
3. Read the relevant material for writing the answer of a question and arrange the points in an
appropriate manner for the answer.
4. You may take help from other resources such as books, websites and other online resources for
writing the answer of a question.
5. You must mention the resources used for writing an answer, at the end of the answer.
6. Assignment should not be handwritten. Typed assignments will be accepted and upload the
assignments on LMS on/before the cut-off date.
7. Write the answer in your own words.
8. Plagiarism or hiring of ghost writer(s) for solving the assignment(s) will debar the student from
award of degree/certificate, if found at any stage. Similarity index should be below 19% overall
and not more than 5% from a single source.
9. Submitting assignment(s) borrowed or stolen from other(s) as one’s own will be penalized as
defined in “AIOU Plagiarism Policy”.
10. Leave 2-3 lines after every answer so that the tutor may provide feedback on your answer.
11. Send each assignment separately on LMS.

Q.No 1. “Qualitative research refers to the meanings, concepts, definitions, characteristics, (15)
metaphors, symbols, and thick descriptions of things”. Elaborate the statement.
Q.No 2. What is rationale of using qualitative research? How does it help in unpacking the (15)
phenomena under study?

Q.No 4. Select a study with phenomenology design from HEC digital library databases in (40)
the scope of your department and discuss its purpose, instruments, data collection
procedure and data analysis technique and how data were interpreted. Design a
similar study with your own topic ; use similar instrument (with changes if
needed) and collect data from 2 to 5 participants with consent, analyze data and
interpret it. Attach study with your analysis.

Q.No 5. From national digital library, search two articles written in interpretivist paradigm (30)
and fall in scope of your department. Review critically each section of each article
and present your comments with justification. You may support your comments
with reference if necessary. Also attach articles with your review
