Part II Highlights of the Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

The Gender and Development program began at 12:00 pm on April 18, 2024,
beginning with initial activities such as the registration, a moment of prayer,
rendition of the nationalistic song, an energizer session, an opening remark, and an
introductory detail for the speaker from chosen faculty members. It was hosted by
Mathematics teachers, Mr. Jemuel A. Frane and Mrs. Ethel V. Dinglasan.

B. Key Learning (per Module/session)

The training proper started with the discussion initiated by Atty. Mikko
Paolo A. Perez, Attorney III of SDO Batangas City. He perceptively explored into the
details of the different women related laws such as law against rape, anti-sexual
harassment law, safe spaces act, and magna carta for women. His presentation not
only showcased his expertise but also ignited a spark of curiosity among the
participants, who were eager to know more about the shared knowledge. He
diligently addressed some queries of the participants regarding some legalization of
their personal matters. After his substantial discussion, the participants were
enlightened with the important issues and concerns about women’s law.

The second speaker was the Education Program Specialist II of the Division
Focal Person, SDO Batangas City, Mrs. Rizza E. Baual. She intuitively discussed
about Gender and Sensitivity and Gender Equality. She gave the clear definition for
gender equality which is the act of being aware of the ways people think about
gender, so individuals rely less on assumptions about traditional and outdated
views on the roles of men and women. Mrs. Baual also shared some gender
sensitive words. She then disclosed about some examples of traditional gender
roles in the society. There are also reminders in establishing gender equality in the

workplace that she mentioned as for instance; know everyone, build people
supporting each other, recognize everyone’s efforts, create a safe and healthy
environment, and provide equal learning and development opportunities.
Afterwards, she let the participants to partake in the session by supplying the best
feature of themselves as woman through a prompt, “I am a woman, of course….”

The last session was delivered by Mrs. Annalyn D. Ebora, school principal II
of Tabangao Integrated School. Her presentation was marked by enthusiasm and
effort as she discussed the topic of "Responsive Teaching Techniques and
Integration Gender Principles in Subject Content." This topic was highly timely and
relevant to the participants. During her talk, Mrs. Ebora focused on the following
points:
Responsive Teaching Techniques: She likely discussed various methods and
strategies that teachers can use to cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
This might include differentiating instruction, using varied assessment methods,
and creating a supportive classroom environment.
Integration of Gender Principles: Mrs. Ebora probably emphasized the importance
of integrating gender perspectives into the teaching and learning process. This
could involve challenging gender stereotypes, promoting gender equality, and
ensuring that educational materials are inclusive and non-discriminatory.

Overall, Mrs. Ebora's session likely aimed to equip the participants with
practical ideas and strategies that they can use to create more inclusive and
effective learning environments for all students, regardless of their gender or
background.

D. Synthesis and Closing

As the program concluded, the participants collaboratively create strategies

to integrate gender equality into their lessons that might be applicable to the
teaching process. Afterward, they presented the crafted output and gave feedback
to each other’s output. Then, the certificates were awarded to each participate to
recognize their commitment to promoting inclusivity in education. Subsequently,
the teachers performed a dance craze featuring the topics in the session. The
seminar empowered educators to be advocates for change, fostering a more
equitable learning environment for all. The Gender and Development Seminar was
a resounding success, inspiring educators to be channels for change in their
classrooms and communities. Through their collective efforts, they are poised to
create a more inclusive and equitable educational landscape, where every student
