Vedic astrology, also known as Jyotisha, is a traditional system of astrology that originates from

ancient India. It has been practiced for thousands of years and is based on the Vedas, the ancient
Hindu scriptures. The word "Jyotisha" translates to "science of light," indicating its focus on
understanding celestial movements and their influence on human life and the natural world.

Key components of Vedic astrology include:

1. **Zodiac Signs (Rashis):** Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is based on the fixed
positions of constellations, rather than the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. There are 12
zodiac signs, each with unique characteristics.

2. **Planets (Grahas):** Vedic astrology considers nine planets: the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,
Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. Rahu and Ketu are considered shadow planets and represent
the lunar nodes.

3. **Houses (Bhavas):** There are 12 houses in a Vedic astrological chart, each representing different
aspects of life, such as health, relationships, career, and spirituality.

4. **Dasas (Planetary Periods):** Vedic astrology uses a system of planetary periods known as Dasas,
which indicate specific times in a person's life influenced by certain planets.

5. **Nakshatras (Lunar Mansions):** The zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras, or lunar mansions,
each with unique attributes. The position of the Moon in a nakshatra at the time of birth is significant
in Vedic astrology.

6. **Aspects and Yogas:** Vedic astrology uses a system of planetary aspects, where planets
influence each other based on their positions in the chart. Yogas refer to specific combinations of
planets that can have significant effects on a person's life.

7. **Remedies (Upayas):** Vedic astrology often includes remedies to mitigate negative influences or
enhance positive ones. These can include gemstones, mantras, rituals, or other practices.

Vedic astrology is often used to make predictions about an individual's life, relationships, career, and
health, as well as to determine auspicious times for various events like weddings or starting new
ventures. It's also a tool for self-discovery and spiritual growth.
