Literacy
We are moving on in our fantasy unit to other
fantasy tales. We will continue to focus on our
essential question: What lesson do these
stories teach us?
Unit High Frequency words: with, that, this, from, to,
no, so, said
Previous units: and, must, went, help, is, as,
his, has, of, all, can, not, big, up, on, the, at, it,
in, am, did, we, he, she, me, my
Phonics/Phonemic Awareness: Magic “e” (makes
the vowel say its name)
Math
Students will work on writing number words. We
will continue to work with addition equations and
missing addends. Students will begin to solve
subtraction number stories.
Suggested homework: Practice high frequency words, identify known words in a story and writing.

Writing
We continue to focus on capitalization,
spacing, punctuation and wow
drawings. Most importantly we will focus
on being a brave speller, using our
knowledge of letter sounds to help us write
words.
We continue to work on creating our own
fantasy stories.
Science- Weather, Plants, and Animals
We will begin a butterfly study. We will
continue to study weather patterns and how
the sun moves during the day.
Vocabulary: predict, sunlight, weather,
needs, shelter
