DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MOTHER TOUNGE-BASED

MULTI-LINGUAL EDUCATION 2

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 50-minute lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. identify synonyms and antonyms of adjectives;
b. appreciate the importance of synonyms and antonyms; and
c. underline the synonyms and antonyms of adjectives in a sentence.

Topic: Identifying Synonyms and Antonyms of adjectives.

A. PRELIMINARIES
1. Prayer
Good morning pupils, How are you today?
Okay before we start may request everybody to
please stand for our opening prayer.

Amen. Amen.

Before you take your seat see to it that your


chairs are properly aligned and pick up the pieces
of paper under your chairs.

2. Attendance
For your attendance just raise your right hand and
say present if your name is being called.

Okay, very good nobody is absent today, a round


of applause.

3. Review of the previous lesson


Class, do you still remember our lesson
yesterday?
Yes teacher.
What was our lesson yesterday?
Our lesson yesterday was all about adjectives.

Very Good! What is adjectives?


Adjectives are describing words

Impressive! Adjectives are words that describe a


noun or a pronoun.

Who can give me an example of adjectives?


Beautiful!

Can you use beautiful in a sentence?


April is beautiful.

Okay, very good that was our topic yesterday


about Adjectives.

4. Motivation
So before we proceed to our new lesson. May I
request everybody to please stand up for the song
entitled “Synonyms and Antonyms”

2. LESSON PROPER
1. Presentation of the topic

The boy is tall and the girl is short teacher.

2. Discussion
So class are you ready to know what our topic
today is?

Our topic is all about “Synonyms and Antonyms”.
This picture is an example of Synonyms.

Class, are you familiar with synonyms?


When we say Synonyms, it is the words that have
the same meaning.

Let’s read. Big Large


Big Large Small little
Small little Scary creepy
Scary creepy
These are examples of synonyms.
How about Antonym? (The students are listening attentively)
Antonym means the words with opposite
meaning.
Just like the picture,

The boy is tall and the girl is short. No teacher.


Do they have the same meaning?

No, they have opposite meaning. Altogether read. Happy Sad

That’s are other examples of antonyms.

3. Group Activity
Now, I am going to group you into three. Since
you have three columns, the first column will be
group 1, the second column will be group 2, and
the last one will be the group 3.

So here’s what you are going to do. I have here


worksheets and write the name of your
groupmates at the back of your paper. Follow the
directions given.

Very good! It’s important to know different


synonyms for a word because it can help us to
better express ourselves, allowing us the ability to
convey exactly what we are thinking at any given
time.
A bigger vocabulary means that we can use
specific words that help our communication
partners to visualize and to better understand our
thoughts.

5. Application
Let’s have an exercise. Class, let’s answer this

IV. EVALUATION

Directions: Underline the adjectives in every sentence and write S if the adjectives are
Synonyms and A if it is Antonyms.
