MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY .

Direction: List down all the issues you know,


you heard off, you watched on the news or you
read on news articles or in the internet.

Instruction:
 The class will be divided into 6 groups.
 Each group will be given a piece of
cardboard for them to list down the
issues they knew.
 The teacher will give them 2 minutes
time to list down all the issues they
know.
 If they are done, they can put their
outputs on the stations provided for
their groups.

Now I want you to look under your arm chair, I


put something there that will determine which
station you belong.

Did you see it? Yes Ma’am.

Very good. Before you go to your group,


please do not drag the chairs, and do not
shout. I will be giving plus 5 to the first group
who can form a circle.

Go to your respective stations now. (the students will now go to their


respective groups)

Okay, now that you are already in your station.


I need one representative from each group to
get the materials on the materials table, get 1
cardboard and 1 pen each.

Now, that you already have the materials. You (starts listing the issues they know)
can start now.

SOCIAL ISSUE

 Is a problem that influences many


individuals within a society.
 a problem that affects many people
within a society.
 It is a group of common problems in
present-day society and ones that many
people strive to solve.
You are correct social issues are issues that
takes place in the society and involves people.
From the word itself social which means
society or organization and issue which means
problems.

What do you think are the circumstances for a


certain issue to be called or to be labelled as
social issue?

 The issue should involve the people in


the society.
 The public, as a whole recognizes the
situation as a problem.
 A large segment of the population sees
the situation as a valid concern.
 The situation can be alleviated through
the joint actions of the citizens.

For a certain issues to be labelled as a social


issue it should be able to satisfy these 4
circumstances.

EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL ISSUES:

o POVERTY
is a state or condition in which one lacks
the financial resources and essentials
for a certain standard of living

o LACK OF EDUCATION
Factors such as difficulties in accessing
schools, lack of resources, and
outdated teaching methods contribute
to this issue

o VIOLENCE /EXPLOITATION
the deliberate maltreatment,
manipulation or abuse of power and
control over another person.

WHAT IS MORAL ISSUE?

 Moral issues are situations or actions


that do not conform to the shared norms
and values, culture, and beliefs
distinguished by a certain community or
social setting.
What are the circumstances for an issue to be
called or labeled as moral issue?

 It is against the values, beliefs, and


preferences of the people in the society.
 It involves behavior patterns that bring
the individual repeatedly into conflict
with the society.
 It involves actions which have the
potential to harm others or the persons
themselves.

An issue should satisfy these circumstances


for it to be called as Moral Issue.

EXAMPLES OF MORAL ISSUES:

o PRE-MARITAL SEX
sexual activity which is practiced by
people before they are married.

o ABORTION
the removal of pregnancy tissue,
products of conception or the fetus and
placenta (afterbirth) from the uterus.

o EUTHANASIA
the practice of ending the life of a
patient to limit the patient's suffering.
