THE RELIABILITY OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE DETECTION OF

ORAL PRECANCEROUS LESIONS

ABSTRACT

The reliability of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE in the detection of oral lesions has been a subject of
significant research and development in recent years. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE algorithms,
particularly those based on deep learning and machine learning techniques, have shown
promising results in accurately detecting various types of oral lesions from images or scans.
Several studies have demonstrated the potential of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE in assisting
dentists and oral healthcare professionals in detecting oral lesions such as oral cancer,
leukoplakia, erythroplakia, and other abnormalities. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE systems can
analyze large datasets of oral images or scans to identify patterns and features indicative of
different types of lesion While ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE holds promise in enhancing the
detection of oral lesions, it's important to acknowledge that it is not without limitations. Factors
such as variations in imaging techniques, patient demographics, and lesion characteristics can
impact the performance of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE models. Continued research,
development, and validation efforts are essential to further improve the reliability of ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE in the detection and diagnosis of oral lesions, ultimately leading to better patient
outcomes.
