Remachine
Pencil Z Control
You can increase control over the machining by entering the Z Limit in the Cleanup and Pencil function. Specifying the Z layer helps to control machining
coverage of the part, and also increases predictability.
Notice the Pencil procedure in the second toolpath (named “PENCIL”). Part: Cleanup & Pencil Z control.elt
Duplicate the procedure and edit the duplicated procedure. Set the Z limit to Top & Bottom. - Duplicar trajetória (“procedure”)
Copy e Paste Procedure
Z Limits (Top & Bottom)
Z Top = -26,0
Z Bottom = - 53,5
The Pencil motions are now limited in both directions: top and bottom.

Cleanup
Note that the motions in the second procedure do not go all the way down.
Note that the Limit Toolpath By Holder and by Shank is checked. (While in the previous procedure it isn't checked). Therefore, there are more unmachined areas.
If the Limit Toolpath By Holder and by Shank is checked, Cimatron can calculate if there will be holder collisions.
Edit the last procedure. Check the option Calculate Un-Machined Areas

This parameter highlights unmachined areas that were calculated but not yet machined due to the holder prevention mechanism (to avoid holder collision with
the part/stock).

Pencil Multi Downstep 1
This option provides you with the ability to perform multiple downstep motions in the Pencil function with two different methods: Z-shift and surface offset.
Check the Multi Pass checkbox. Set the Multi Pass method to Incremental Z, and the other parameters as shown in the picture below.
Note that once Multi Pass is checked, additional parameters are revealed: Multi Pass Method, Number of Passes, and Step Size.
Note that 3 passes are created, and that the additional passes are shifted upwards along Z with the specified step size between them.

Run the Navigator on this procedure and notice the machining order.
The upper pass in all areas is done first, followed by the middle layer, and finally by the last layer.
If multiple cutters are used, the above described machining order is kept for each tool (the first one performs all its layers, and then the next).
Toggle the result display of the last 2 procedures for better viewing.
The motions of the Surface Offset are shifted sideways as well as upwards.

Note that the Approach and Retract motions are different for each pass. They are recalculated at each place while considering the geometry and stock conditions.
