The series is based on a novel and movie called One flew over the Cuckoo's nest. The series is actually a
prequel to that movie. It is set in America in the 1950’s in a mental hospital and it revolves around the
main character, nurse Rached, and tells the story of how she joins a mental hospital and becomes
obsessed by the types of medical procedures that are used to torture and even kill patients.
The series is fascinating and has an unpredictable storyline that keeps you guessing what will happen
next. These constant twists in the plot make it addictive and thrilling to watch. I was also impressed
with the variety of complex characters, especially the protagonist. Her backstory really gives you insight
as to why she behaves in such a strange way. The dialogue is also intriguing and intelligent which gives
the series another dimension; it is not just a commercial action packed series. Full of frightening scenes,
creepy characters and a spine-chilling soundtrack, Rached will definitely keep you on the edge of your
seat.
I was a big fan of the series from the very first episode, and admit that I watched it extremely quickly. I
recall watching 6 episodes on the first day, I was hooked. I especially enjoy that it is based on true facts
and has an element of history. It is not terrifying to watch, but some scenes are quite disturbing, so I
would probably recommend watching it with someone. Some of the scenes are quite gory and I
remember having to look away for some of them, especially when they were performing the lobotomy.
However, overall I consider it to be a great watch and recommend it to anyone who has not seen it yet.
