Many service problems with gate valves occur from improper operation. Never throttle a gate valve in the partially open position or extensive damage will
occur. Lubricate the stem bearings and valve body a minimum of twice per year or every 15 to 20 cycles, and prior to ‘shutting-in’ a well.
To operate: Turn handwheel counterclockwise to open and clockwise to close. Snug up the Model ‘A’ handwheel or backoff the Model ‘B’ / ‘SL’ handwheel
after the gate stops.
Operating instructions also apply to gate valves integral with composite block valves and CPTs.
