Mission:

Research resources found on Mars. Create a model of a device or chemical reaction that
can be used to heat food using resources that are already found on Mars. Write a
summary of how it works.

Here’s what we know:

● Heat flows from warmer objects to cooler objects.

● Adding thermal energy to a substance will increase the kinetic energy of the
substance.
● Particles are fixed in solids, move freely in liquids, and move quickly in gases.
● During endothermic reactions, heat is absorbed. During exothermic reactions,
heat is released.
● All matter is made up of atoms.
● Physical properties can be observed without changing the substance, but chemical properties can only be observed during
chemical reactions.
● During a chemical reaction, atoms rearrange to form new substances.
● The law of conservation of mass states that matter cannot be created or destroyed.
