1. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this document is to establish the guidelines required to ensure the proper execution of
the activities of installation of HVAC ducts, accesories and the proper instllation of the thermic
insullation on the ducts, as well as to generate evidence using this procedure.

2. SCOPE

This procedure is to be use in all the constructive activities of HVAC system installation. In here you
will find the steps to follow for the ventilation and air conditioning system, as well as all the
consideration to take into account during the Works and the porcess of construction for the Project
Dos Bocas with Samsung.

This procedure applies for the following equipment:

 Air Handler
 Condensing Unit
 Air extraction fan unit
 Pressure Unit
 Filtration Unit
 Ducts

3. DEFINITIONS
HVAC.- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, it is a system of climatization and
ventilation. Working as climatization system, could be used as heater system during the
Winter and cooling system during the summer. The goal of the system it is to provide to he
user an interiror environment with confortable humidity and purification of the air.
Air Conditioning.- Is the process in which the air is controlled in a closed roo mor space,
following the parameters of temperatura, humidity, velocity and purity according to the
established limits.
Environment.- The circumstances or conditions surrounding a person or thing.
Latent Heat.- could be add or subtract from a substance and triggers the chance from solid to
liquid, liquid to gas or viceversa, without change of temperature.
Sensitive Heat.- could be add or eliminated from a substance which can be quantified by a
thermometer
Climate conditions.- It is the situation of the exterior climage of each place, where it is
required environment design, such as temperatura, relativity humidity, heigth above the sea
level, speed, and wind direction.

Condensator.- Heat exchanger in wish the refrigerant condesate by meaning of external
water or air.
Evaporator.- Heat exchanger in wish the refrigerant evaporates when absorbs heat from
another fluid like water or air.
Air filters.- Used to remove pollutants particles, like dust, liquids and some gases, suspended
in mid air.
Presurization.- The process of provide air to a room or space to increase the internal
pressure regarding the exterior, preventing the intake of gases, toxic vapors, flammables and
explosives.
Refrigerant.- It’s a fluid with it’s own pressure and boiling temperatura. Is used to transfer
the heat in a system of refrigeration. The refrigerant absorbes heat at low temperatura and
pressure, rejects heat through condensation at high temperature and pressure.
Wet bulb temperature.- It is the indication in a wet bulb thermometer exposed to a current
of air for a time of 30 to
35 seconds.
Dry bulb temperature.- It is the indication in a ordinary thermometer. The bulb is enclosed
and isolated from heat radiation.
Mechanical ventilation.- It is the process of inject, recirculate or extract air from a roo mor
space by mechanical meanings. It is positive when it is injected and negative when it is
extracted.
Refrigerant tons.- The amount of heat required to melts 1 ton of solid ice in 24 hours.
Insullation.- The duct insulation basically is a glass fiber blanket pad with kraft paper and
alluminum foil. The alluminum foil must be reinforced with thread or yarn making a mesh.
The fiber must be 1 or 2 inches thick and united with contact glue.
Volume air control.- Metallic dispositive with blades along with difuser or injection grill,
allows to regulates manually the flow of air.
Duct.- Square or circular pipe with tranversal sections to allow the flow of air.
Difuser or Injection Grill.- Element, piece or component elaborated of anodized alluminum.
It allows to distribute or direct the flow of air injected to the rooms or spaces.
Return difuser or extractor.- Element, piece or component elaborated of anodized
alluminum. It allows extracto r return to the outside the flow of air previouslly injected to the
rooms or spaces.

5. RESPONSANILITIES.
Construction Manager – Is responsible for the fullfuling and apliying of these
procedure for Construction in the
Project
Construction Supervisor – Is responsible of follwing all the guidelines and
instructions in this precedure and to elaborate the Advance report.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control Supervisor – Is responsible of reviewing the
propper use of this precedure on the job site and to elaborate the Inspection report.
Health Safety and Environment Supervisor – Is responsible of advice all the
matters related to prevent accidents or hazard issues, including legal requirements
for the health and the welfare of the worker or staff.
Environment Supervisor – Is responsible of provide support and orientation to the
worker or staff, as well as identify the especific risks of significative environment
impact, mitigation meassures and objetives of the Project.

6. DEVELOPMENT
6.1 Equipment Inspection Before the Installation
The Mechanical Supervisor must verify all the followings before the installation of the
equipments.

1.- The equipment to install must be complete and with all its accesories and its
dimensions must be according to manufacturer instruction booklet.

2.- To check the weigth of the equipoment to install according with the manufacturer
instruction booklet, for the propper selection of equipment and tools before the
installing.

3.- To verify the final placement of the equipment to be free of obstacles and with all
the permission to work in the area and surroundings.

4.- To verify the surface be free of polutants such as grease, oil, paint, oxide and any
presence of crakings, if any of the anomalies occurs, it should be clean or fixed
before installation.

5.- To verify there is a Lifting procedure and its approved by Samsung.

6.- Instructions from the manufacturer must be take into account if the case of any
special accesorie or tool required for installation of the equipment.

7.- To verify and draw the axis points of the equipment in “X” & “Y” according to the
Issue For Construction drawing provided.

8.- If the equipment requires anchors, draw the points where the anchors will be
placed. Drill and place the dowels.

9.- Before installing the equipment. Draw the axes on the base of the equipment to
install, that way will be a reference of the mid point of the equipment and the axis
drawn in the base.

6.2 UMA, UP, UF, Condensator Mounting

1.- Over the base where the equipment will be installed, a pad of Neoprene must be
placed, with the same dimensión of the base or support of the equipment. It will work
as insulation and reduce vibration.
2.- Install the equipment following the lifting procedure.
3.- The level of the equipment must be the same as the base, the máximum
tolerance is zero (0). This applies for length and across.
4.- Verify the elevation of the Inlet and Oulet nozzles according to IFC drawings; the
tolerance is +/- 5 mm.

6.3 Extractor Fan Equipment Installation

These equipments must be installed in the battery room and must be conected to a
SCD System

1.- Identify and mark the support structure of the Extractor-Fan

2.- Identify North and East axis, as well as elevation to set the final position of the
equipment according to the IFC
drawing.

3.- Identify and draw where the equipment will be, before perforate. This according to
the IFC drawing.

4.- The wall mounting case and the wall mounting collar, are convenient to mount
sideway extractor-fans, at the same time keep away the blades from the firewall.

5.- Draw, placed and level (to zero (0)) the gate of the extractor-fan on the outside of
the building, the gate must be activated by gravity.

6.- Place the armor and the extractor-fan, this must be level to zero (0).

7.- The distance between the blades and the firewall is a really important dimension
to take into account for the installation. The extractors to be place in a wall requieres
a size hole different as the ones mounted in collars. Fig.1 and 2

8.- All the fixation fasteners and screws must be tight. This is specially important for
the fixation screws of the bearings. The propeller must turn freelly and without
rubbing the panel.

6.4 Ducts Mounting

Will be installed according to IFC details and ducts distribution drawings

The conditions are as follow:

1.- The supports will be installed considering size and shape to fit the ducts, as well
as the elevation according to IFC
details drawings.

2.- The drawings refers to the schematic location of the supports; Nevertheless the
location could vary in the buildings and it will be adjust in field.

3.- There must be a máximum gap of 10 ft (3.048 m) between each support.

4.- The ventilation grills mounted in the ducts, must not be placed in top of any
electric panel or board as well on top of any cable tray, to avoid any condensation
of such elements.

5.- The fasten or anchor of the supports will be with a galvanized trapeze fixed to
the concrete with a ¼” endless screw, hex nut and 3/8” washer.
6.- To level the ducts its important to review the plant and elevation drawings, once
identified the level, the duct must be placed and level with the galvanized trapeze.
The level tolerance is zero (0).
7.- Finally the 4x4”galvanized trapeze used as base or support of the duct its
tighten to its final position.
8.- The length of each duct must not be large tha 1.22 m.
9.- Once the ducts are ready and placed, the unión between them should be with a
“Z” staple (fig. 3 & 4) this must be slide across to unite the two ducts.

Once the union is ready it must be sealed with water base sealant special for
ducts

11.- Prior to apply the sealant, the surface must be clean and clear of dust, grease,
oil or any foreign substance

12.- Apply the sealant in all the union and the surrounding areas of the Z staple.
Must check for missed spaces or any bubble.

13.- Once the sealant its cheked, it must be let dry at least 4 to 6 hours.

14.- Smoke detectors should be installed in the air return duct system, the capacity
must be less tan 2000 CFM (0.9 m³/s). Must be placed in returns, up water of any
filter and air conection extraction of decontamination equipment.

6.5 Fire Test in Ducts

1.- Select the section of duct to be test for air tightness.

2.- Meassure and calculate the duct surface to test

3.- Isolate all the equipments surrounding the duct to be tested, close gates with
metal sheets to avoid any leak. This test is only for the duct.

4.- Seal all the exits with sealat or tape in the section of duct to be tested, except for
one, connect a blower with control velocity to generate a range of pressure and
addecuate flow. The test pressure must not be bigger tan teh design pressure of the
duct according to fig. 5.

5.- Place the flow meassure devices for high pressure and orifice plate for low
pressure. The manifolds and accesories required for the conection of the ducts.

6.- Calculate the flow and leak range in the duct according to the area of the surface
of the duct testing with the following formula.

7.- Max flow allowed = Q X F Where Q= System flow in Ft³/m


F= Decimal fraction of the system, this is between 1% - 5%.

8.- To prevent a over pressure on the duct, turn on the blower with the gate closed.
Open the gate slowly until the required pressure is reached according to fig 6.

9.- Check the Reading in the flowmeter and compare the leak in CFM versus the
range calculated. In the event of present air leak, find the leak applying soap water
in the joints of the duct.
10. Check the pressurized duct and all its joints between the flowmeter and the
duct.
11.- Once the leak is located, depressure and fix the leak applying sealant or
repaireing the joint with the leak, repeat the preview steps until reach the leak range
or no leak at all.

6.6 Thermic Insulation Installation


The thermic insulation must be applied following the steps of the manufacturer
procedure

6.7 Difusers Installation


To install the Difusers follow this directions.
1.- The difusers must be placed only at the end of ducts or hoses for air injection
and must be selected according the design and requirements of the Project.
2.- This should be only connected to the neck or preparation for this, this should be
always placed horizontally.
3.- Place the Difuser inside the box or neck.

4.- With the help of a drill make holes on the difuser and neck together with a drill bit
of the diameter of the screw to use.
5.- Screw the for sides of the Difuser and neck together with No. 10 screws and/or
galvanized wire, the difuser must be tigth, otherwise it will vibrate with the air
velocity.

6.8 Extraction Grills and Louvers Installation


To install the Extraction Grills and Louvers follow this directions.
1.- The extraction grills must be placed at the end of ducts destined to return the air
to the main unit oro ver the false ceiling or the case of plain chamber.
2.- The extraction grills can be placed vertically or horizontally.
3.- Must be fixed with No. 10 screws and/or galvanized wire, the extraction grills
must be aligned and tigth.
4.- For the installation of the injection grills follow the previews steps, as well this
could be placed vertically or horizontally.
5.- For the event where the grill will placed in vertical position, must take care of the
fin to be oriented down.

6.9 Mini-Split Installation Activities

1.- The units mini-split type will be installed in the inside pof the bulding fixed to the
concrete wall, block, brick or structure, preferably on the upper part of the wall.
2.- The condensign unit shoul be installed outside the building over a metallic or
concrete base.

3.- To considerate every machine have a drain duct in the low bottom right or left
side, this duct always must be in descend position.
4.- Draw over the wall where the unit will be placed according to the IFC drawing
level.use a level to draw the fixation axis, must consider 1 or 2 mm of unevenness
for the the drain.
5.- Place the support of the unit on the wall, must be at the center and away from
the cealing at least 30 to 35 cm, mark the places to drill to fixate the support.
6.- Drill the holes with a dept of 3 or 4 cm. For screws of 5-6 mm of diameter, place
the support and screw it preferebly with impact screws with a level tolerance of 1-2
mm to the side of the unit drain.
7.- Before installing the unit drill a hole trough the wall of 7.5 cm of diameter, be
carefull nto the leave the hole to low.
8.- Bend to insert through the hole the unit tubes: gas tube (1/2”), liquid tube (3/8”),
Insulation tube for both tubes and drain tube, at the same time insert the control and
termostate cables from the exterior to the interior.
9.- Connect the control and termostate cables to the unit, as well as all the tubes.
10.- Guiding all the tubes to the exterior place and install the evaporator unit onto
the support.
11. Place the condensing unit outside the building, preferebly over the roof at a
distance not bigger tha 5 m from the evaporator unit, use chemical dowels, or it
could be place at the side of the building using menses.
12.- Use a gutter to guide the pipes to the upper part of the building.
13.- Get the pipe from the evaporator unit to the condensator unit trought the gutter.
14.- Cut the copper pipes leaving a tolerance of 10 cm. Place the isolation tube over
the copper pipes and tape to seal.
15.- Place the connectors in the copper pip and connect both pipes to the
condesator.
16.- Make the electric conection according to the control circuit provided by the
manufacturer.
17.- Remove the screw cap from the condesator. The unit comes with pressure gas
to avoid any humidity inside of the circuit.
18.- Conect the manifold with gauges and the pump to make the vacuum in the
circuit, conect the blue hose to the service valve and the other end to the blue end
of the gauge and the yellow service hose to the center conection of the manifold,
the other end to the vacuum nozzle of the pump.

19.- On the manifold, close the red handle and open the blue handle, start the pump
for 30 minutes to remove all the posible humidity.
20.- The blue gauge indicates the pressure before the vacumm starts. The red gauge
indicates the vaccum pressure. It will reach -30 psi and remains there.
21.- When 30 minutes pass closet he blue handle of the manifold and stop the
vacuum pump. Let the vacuum for at least another 30 minutes to prove the system is
hermetic or without a leak, with the criteria: the gauge indicating -30 psi does not
have to move to Zero (0).
22.- Once the hermeticity of the circuit is verified, unplug the yellow hose, remove the
screw cap of the 2 valves, adjust the valve of low pressure where the manifold is
connected to equalize the pressure to envoronment pressure, closet he low pressure
valve and unplug the the hose.
23.- With the hose unploged open the low pressure valve to insert the gas to the
circuit, perform the same with the high pressure valve, when done put back the screw
caps of each valve.
24.- Connect the electric cables of the unit to the power source according to the
electric diagram included with the instruction booklet of the manufacturer.
25.- Connect the drain of the unit to the external dreinage or sewer tube.

7. SAFETY MEASURES
All the personnel involved in the realization of these precedure must stick to this and
the Safety plan and Health for the work plan, the use of heavy machinary and
equipment plan and identifying and evaluation of job risks. The main objetive is to
prevente form harm or any injury to the personnel, facilities and environment.

HEALTH:
To follow the decrees of the client, including procedures, staff medical exams, to the
staff performing the high risk Jobs and crane operations. Procedure ti indentify,
evaluate and control every labor aspect. Procedure for the workers health
surveillance and others, as well as to have work permit. Also to include:
• Water supply
• Portable toilets
• Lunch area and lunch hour

8. ENVIRONMENT MEASURES
All the personnel involved in the realization of the Jobs must follow the guidelines of
this precedure and the Environment Plan. The main objetive is to stablish and
recommend safety and protective meassures, attenuation, restoration and
compensation of the negative environment impact, which may result from the
activities of the Project, such as:
