Activity 2 Unit vectors: Where am I?

Version 3

You are given five vectors that lead to an unknown location in the school. You must
resolve each vector into a set of displacements to walk out the path through the
destination, then identify the unknown location and determine the overall resultant.

1. Using the measuring tape draw each vector. Consider the tip of the last vector
as the initial point of the next one.
2. Using Geogebra draw the vectors (label them, include the direction and
magnitude of each, and the magnitude of the total displacement). Paste an
image at the end of the activity.
3. Fill in the table with the missing information.
4. Find the total distance.
5. Find the total displacement.
Starting point: OXXO (Consider the North as what you see when you exit the OXXO)
Point Unit X- Y- Magnitude Direction
vector component component (m) (°)
(m) (m)
0 (0𝑖, 0𝑗) 0 0 0 0
1 (7,3) 7 3 7.61 23.19
2 (4,9.16) 4 9.16 10 47.51
3 (7𝑖, 6𝑗) 7 6 9.2 40.60
4 (12,5) 12 5 13 22.61
5 (2𝑖, 4𝑗) 2 4 4.47 63.43
