Sorting a section of books by lexile
● Report builder

● Limiters: Sort by call # (greater than 0 and less than 999.99)
● Limiters: Lexile 0-600 (example)
● Download XML file
● Open Excel
● Open download
● Open as an xml table
● Create schema
Change a batch of call numbers or change a batch of circulation type (ex. “Hide” a section of books)
● Notepad
● Scan in all books desired
● Save file
● Catalog
● Update copies
● Batch update
● Select copy field
● Change circulation type to or change call number prefix
○ i.e. Reserve Extra Copies for end of year extra copies to be removed from shelves and used by
teachers in future years for novel studies

Add Second Step to Marc record:
● Catalog
● Type in title of book
● Click on title
● MARC view
● Edit title
● Use Easy Editor
● Subjects
● Click on Topical Heading and choose Local Heading
● In the box type: “Second Step”
● Update
● Save Title
● No need to click anything on the Accept Suggestions page, just click to save the title
● To check your work, enter second step as a keyword in the search and see if the title pops up

Holds
● When a hold pops up, click to print the notice
● Write the student’s name on the book and check out to the student
● Put the book in the bucket according to the weekday it is
● Deliver hold notice
● Weekly clear out holds by checking in books on the noted morning; fill tub with held books that come in
throughout the day

Run an e-mail report for overdue notices
1. Reports

3. Under Show, check “That are overdue by _______” and fill in the days
4. Format: Notices
5. Continue
6. My Patrons: Update (Check Staff and/or Students depending on who you want to receive the notice)
7. Continue
8. Distributed: Check Via e-mail
9. Change your display name and e-mail to fit what you want
10. I send to all emails just to cover my bases :)
11. Page Layout: Print 1 notice per page
12. Fill in the message box with whatever message you’d like
13. Under Also Display, I uncheck price so they don’t think the cost is a fine
14. You can save the setup or just run the notice
