NARRATIVE ON CATCH UP FRIDAY READING

The department of Education recognizes quality to be the biggest challenge of basic

education. The ballooning number of non-readers posed threats and should be addressed
properly to fill the gaps in reading literacy of pupils.

It is in this context that Catch-Up Fridays was introduced to facilitate pupils integration,
reducing disparities, and fostering competitive yet balanced environment for learning and
growth.

As a teacher, I am thankful to this program that is why I make sure to have prepared the
necessary learning materials. In the morning for the National Reading program and in the
afternoon, Health Education. Majority of the class participates actively in the session
especially in the afternoon where we discuss about personal things related to health. Games
were also utilized to break the monotony of the session.

As a whole, the catch up Friday session was successful.
