Introduction
With development of society, world population becomes denser, and we will greater pressure from the increasing number of people. During the past half century, the worlds population has been increasing at a fantastic speed, and we are now faced with the so-called problem of overpopulation. Although overpopulation result in expansion of supply and demand, also stimulate the growth of economy, but overpopulation has brought about a series of negative effects to the society, environment and economy. For society, there exist many negative impacts of education, health insurance and transportation. For environment, we suffer from environmental pollution and Green House Effect. For economy, overpopulation leads to the increasing unemployment and poverty that result in a bad cycle. In this essay, it will cover the impacts of overpopulation to raise peoples awareness and solutions of overpopulation.

Impact
For society: Overpopulation influences the development of society. Firstly, education becomes a severe problem. In China, education system is examination-oriented system. Because of a large population, examination becomes the one way to distinguish between the good students or bad students. Some poor parts of china cant receive a good education so that they cant change their life and they become poorer (Ba, 2010). Also in Russia, between 2003 and 2009, the population of Russians rose from around 140 million to 145 million but Russians are less concerned about the quality of education, 18 percent of Russians think their most lacking is a good education. And only 6 percent believes that the best profession is school teachers (Dubin & Zorkaia, 2010). Secondly, health insurance is a serious problem. In Russia, from 2000 to 2004, the percentages of people who are covered by health insurance rises 88 to 94. In spite of high population get health insurance, they are less concerned about the health service so that compulsory health insurance becomes useless (Perlman, Balabanova, & McKee, 2009). Thirdly, overpopulation affects the transportation. According to the chart below, in India, between 1981 and 2002, the number of two-wheelers increases rapidly from around 2.5 million to more than 40 million, and usage of cars, jeeps, and taxis increase slightly but the number of buses remains steady. It means that everyone is willing to buy their own cars or two-wheelers instead of public transportation so it brings a lot of problems like traffic congestions and traffic accident (Pucher, Zhong-ren, Mittal, Yi, & Korattyswaroopam, 2007).

Hu Renyuan (Michael)

All in all, overpopulation brings a lot of negative effects that influences the quality and coverage of education, congestions and accident of traffic and service of health care.

For environment: Due to overpopulation, Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious in the world. First of all, people need more fuel vehicles and consumption of fuel like oil, gas and coal that affects the environment increases. As the data shows, between 2002 and 2005, world crude oil production rises from 65261 to 71095 thousand barrels per day. There is no doubt that there are industrial emissions like carbon monoxide, nitric oxide and carbon dioxide that make air pollution. Too much Carbon dioxide leads to climate change and temperatures rise substantially that is called Greenhouse Effect that raises the sea level (Middle East Security Overview, 2010).

Hu Renyuan (Michael)

Then, there exist much municipal waste, such as solid wastes and plastic wastes and sewage that leads to water pollution. Around 1.5 billion people are lacking in clean water to drink and waterborne diseases cause more than 5 million deaths every year. But water is very important for living things, without water there can be no life on earth. So overpopulation can be a threat to life (Water & Waste Utilities of the World, 2004). Due to overpopulation, we are finding the challenge of energy shortage. In order to get more energy, Trees on the hills have been cut down and overgrazing that influences the environment. Overall, overpopulation leads to air pollution, water pollution, Greenhouse Effect that raise the sea level and energy used up.

For economy: Overpopulation brings the rapid economy growth. According to the chart, between 1971 and 2001 the GDP per capita increased from 500 to 4000 dollars in China and also rose from 1200 to 2700 dollars in India. Large populations lead to large consumption so that an increasing number of products will be produced. Overpopulation stimulates the development of industry, agriculture and service that makes many poor people improve their life standard (Pucher, Zhong-ren, Mittal, Yi, & Korattyswaroopam, 2007).

Hu Renyuan (Michael)

However, overpopulation affects the countrys development of economy in some ways. In the first place, in a huge populations country, it is hard for everyone to get the job. In 1995, China's population hit 1.2 billion and is 22 percent of the world's population. According to the rate, the population will reach the peak at 1.7-1.8 billion (Pucher, Zhong-ren, Mittal, Yi, & Korattyswaroopam, 2007)

As the chart show the unemployment of China below. According to the chart, although from 2003-2007 the number of unemployment of China drop gradually, however figures increase dramatically between 2007 and 2011 from 31 million to 35 million and forecast it will reach the peak of 36 million in 2013. Besides, Student numbers rise from 7.23 million in 2000 to 11.46 million in 2002.The dramatic increase in Chinas students is relate to an increasing number of unemployment (DATAMONITOR:China. (cover story), 2010)

Hu Renyuan (Michael)

Then overpopulation leads to the poverty. India's population will increase from 935 million to 1.4 billion. In India, 55 percent in 1973 and 39 percent in 1988 of Indians live below the poverty line. Providing enough water and food to increasing populations of India is becoming a big problem. The poor have no chance to make investments so that they cant improve their life standard (Livernash, 1995).

Low Income

Overpopulation

unemployment

Limited Investments

Poverty

All in all, when the country has the overpopulation, it leads to the increasing of unemployment, and then people have low income. They have no free money to make investments. Limited investments lead to low income that makes a bad cycle, and then more and more people live below the poverty line so that gap between the poor and rich increase rapidly.

Solution
Government policy: Proper measures must be taken to solve a series of problems of overpopulation. Firstly, government should take steps to cope with

overpopulation. In China the one-child policy was initially applied in 1979. It means only one child is allowed per family. If some people break the law, they will get legal sanctions and pay a lot of money as well. This is a major measure to limit the increasing number of population (Mosher, 2006).

Environment protection: Secondly, to protect the environment, the first international meeting on environment issues was held in Sweden in 1972. The outcome of meeting was the establishment of United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). In 1982 the member of organization had grown to 106 countries. It is a significant way for people to protect the environment so that decreases the negative effects of overpopulation (Water & Waste Utilities of the World, 2004).

Construction of infrastructure: Thirdly, government injects more funds to the construction of

infrastructure. They should focus more on the education, such as building more educational institutions, increasing the wages of teachers and improving the education methods. Encouraging students to study abroad is also a good way to provide communication education. Government should increase the quantity and quality of public transportation and pay more attention to the health care.

Conclusion
From the above explanation and analysis, we can conclude that overpopulation brings many problems in our life. Many people are unable to get good education if they can get the opportunity to receive education. We suffer from the traffic congestions and accidents as well as quality of health care. Due to overpopulation, environmental protection becomes a severe problem. Air pollution, water pollution and Greenhouse Effect all damage the environment. With the increasing number of population, the rate of unemployment increased that leads to low income, and people dont have enough fund to invest so a lot of people live below the poverty level. However, we find a lot of ways to solve the problem, such as one-child policy in China, international institution to protect environment and governments can inject more money into the construction of infrastructure in terms of education, transportation and health care. In a word, Overpopulation has become a serious problem in recent years, all human beings are supposed to raise the awareness of problem of overpopulation. Individuals need to try their best to obey the government policy, protect the environment and improve population quality. As the saying goes, Many hands make light work, I believe our world will have a bright future.
