Recall
ACESSORY ORGANS
AND
PROCESS OF
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Objectives:

At the end of this lesson, students will be able

to:

Describe how some accessory organs

help the body in the digestive
process; and

Explain ingestion, digestion,

absorption, assimilation, and
excretion.
Let’s watch!!
QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE
VIDEO ALL
ABOUT?
How many organs
that comprise the
digestive system?
What are those
trio organs that
break down
foods?
Liver
This is where
bile is produced,
to break down
the fats and to
neutralise any
acid in the food.
Gallbladder
Its main function is
to store and
concentrate bile
produced by the
liver. When we
consume fatty foods,
the gallbladder
releases bile.
Pancreas
Produce digestive
enzymes and
hormones. It secretes
enzymes into the
small intestine to aid
in the digestion of
carbohydrates,
proteins, and fats.
What makes them
an accessory
organ?
As what you
observed in the
video, what happen
to the food when it
is in your mouth?
-is the first process that INGESTION
happens in the digestive
system. It is the journey of
taking in food or any
substance into the body
through the mouth. The
journey of food starts when a
bit of the biscuit enters your
mouth.
How does the food
move from your
esophagus to
stomach?
-is the second process DIGESTION
involved in the
digestive system. It is
the process that
involves breakdown
of large food
molecules into
smaller molecules for
easy absorption of
the cells.
How does the food
move from your
stomach to small
intestine?
ABSOPTION
Is the third process that happens in the digestive
system. This is the process of passing the soluble
food molecules from stomach to small intestine
through the villi- the tiny, finger-like projections
from the epithelial lining of the intestinal wall.
How does the food
move from your
small intestine to
large intestine?
ASSIMILATION

is the fourth process that

occurs in the digestive
system. It is the movement
of digested food nutrients
into the bloodstream of
the small intestine.
How does the food
move from your
large intestine to
anus?
EGESTION

-is the last process that

occurs in the digestive
system. It is the release of
undigested food collected in
the rectum called feces and
pushed out of the body
through the anus by
defecation.
Group Activity:
“Crunchy
Snack”
Procedure Group the students into 5 and
give 2 biscuits to each member.
Break the biscuit into half.
Students will put the first half
biscuit in their mouth and
chew.
After the 1st biscuit, students
will place the 2nd half biscuit in
their mouth as well, refraining
from chewing and allowing it to
dissolve in their saliva for a
duration of 2 minutes.
Record observation.
Guide
1. In the first biscuit,
Questions: what do you feel
upon chewing it?

2. In the second
biscuit, what do you
feel after 2 minutes in
your mouth without
chewing?
Guide 3. What happens to the
biscuit when it is in your:
