OVERVIEW

The role of Cafeteria Assistant at Corpus Christi College is an integral part of the support staff.

The role is responsible for assisting the Cafeteria Coordinator with the day-to-day running of
the College Cafeteria. In using established routines, methods and procedures, the Cafeteria
Assistant helps ensure that the College Cafeteria runs efficiently. The Cafeteria Assistant must
ensure safe and appropriate practices are followed in relation to hygiene, health laws and
regulations.

A focused and organised individual with a positive attitude is required. Experience in food
preparation, handling and hygiene is essential. Knowledge of ordering and checking of
stock/inventory will also be highly regarded. Effective time management and communication is
also key for this role, alongside tact, initiative and customer service skills.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RELATIONSHIPS

The Cafeteria Assistant is directly accountable to the Cafeteria Coordinator on behalf of the
Assistant Business Manager.

Job Title

POSITION DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Handling and preparing food in a timely manner


• Handling cash and point-of-sale payments
• Assisting with monitoring stock levels at required intervals
• Delivering food orders and assisting with catering set up for College events
• Ensuring all daily monitoring and records are maintained (as per Food Safety Program) for
inspection purposes
• Ensuring all incoming orders are monitored as per the Food Safety Program and stock is
stored and rotated appropriately
• Ensuring the collection counting and receiving of monies is undertaken within established
internal control guidelines
• Observe internal controls relating to delivery/pick up of goods and signoff of invoices
• Monitoring hygiene and WHS requirements and maintaining knowledge of current food
handling requirements
• Other duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS (SELECTION CRITERIA)

• 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a commercial kitchen, catering company or school


cafeteria
• Proficiency in food preparation and handling
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a busy team
• Effective time management
• Excellent customer service skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess the training requirements of Food Safety Standard 3.2.2A
