Low freq. common source

amplifier

“Fixed bias config”

1. the JFET characterized by the curve shown in figure 1 is used in

the amplifier with basic arrangement. The parameters of this
circuit are: 𝑉𝐷𝐷 = 25 V, 𝑉GG = -1.5 V, 𝑅𝐷 = 714 Ω, and 𝑉gs = 0.5
sinwt V Obtain the coordinates of the Q-point, the output voltage
and current, and the voltage amplification of the circuit.

2. Derive an expression for Av of a low frequency small signal model

for the common source amplifier (Bypassed)
3. Determine Z i , Z o , and A v for the network of Fig.2 if
IDSS = 10 mA, VP = -6 V, and rd = 40 kΩ.

4.
a. Determine Z i , Z o , and A v for the network of Fig.2
if I DSS and VP are one-half the values of Problems 3. This is
I DSS =5 mA and VP=-3 V.
b. Compare the solutions to that of Problem 3.

5.
a. Determine Z i , Z o , and A v for the network of Fig.3 if
IDSS =10 mA, V P =-4 V, and r d =20 kΩ
b. Repeat part (a) with r d= 40 kΩ What was the impact on the
results?
