Testimonies :
 Direct testimony from the one experiencing migration.
 Indirect : A witness or a storytelling by a reporter, an actvist or an academic.
 Media coverage of death tolls of migrants
 Social media :
o By and for migrants
o By NGOs activist for migrants
o Content made by migrant : photo, reels, documenting what’s uncovered by
mainstream media. First person account. There also an aesthetic, artistic twist
to it.
o Voice messages.
o First person accounts in general.
o Movies : flee, les nageuses, la Jaula de Oro.
o Any form of artistic expression (interning to analyses how Museum reframes
migration).
o Migration : race.

Migration with a post-colonial / global south view.


Different forms of racialization of migrants, could be as simple as the words we use.
Example : Ukraine vs the rest. Compare how we talk about migrants.

There’s a whole industry of migration on social media. We tend to forget that you can get
scammed on social media, where there are organized criminal organization.

 Contacts in their own cultures. Gives them their own bubble.
The far right uses this argument to say they’re brats, they have enough money to buy
smartphones.
Migrants find themselves in virtual ghettos : “they don’t feel ”. A big chunk of their life is
social media. “Ghettos” because they kind of cant leave.
Bubble effect. Shadow ban. SOG : queer migrants, sexual orientation gender.
