Checklist Entry Requirements

Clinical Psychology – September 2024

This form is not required for students with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Utrecht
University

For all other students, this form is mandatory.


Please note: students with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from another Dutch research
university do have to fill out the form, but are not required to hand in course syllabi

Instructions
In the scheme below you have to show to the Admissions Committee how you have acquired each
competency. List all relevant academic courses per entry requirement or other relevant academic
experiences (such as internships or thesis). For all courses you list, you need to hand in supporting
documents that proof:
a) You have passed a course (or will take the courses if not yet passed)
b) The course content

You can upload these documents via the application process in Osiris Online Application. The
Admissions Committee accepts the following supporting documents as proof:
- Digital copy of your thesis (or research plan if you have not written your thesis yet)
- Official course syllabi in English or Dutch (online or offline), including information on
course content, learning goals, weekly schedule, etc.

Please realise that the Admissions Committee might be unfamiliar with your specific curriculum.
Via course syllabi the content of a course can be verified. When the Admissions Committee is
unable to verify the course content or experience, it will not be taken into account in the
assessment of your application file.

1. Psychological theories
You meet this competency when you have acquired:

a) You have acquired at least 30 EC academic courses covering general psychological


knowledge in multiple domains. For example: neuropsychology, developmental
psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, social psychology and
organisational psychology. Courses related to the subjects below cannot be included.

methods and psychometric indicators for the quality of psychological testing / validity
and reliability estimation).

2. Psychopathology
You meet this competency when you have acquired:

a) Knowledge of and insights into the characteristics, theory and treatment of mental
disorders such as personality disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia
spectrum and other psychotic disorders. You are able to critically evaluate these conditions.

the different steps (from intake to recommendation) of the entire diagnostic process
(from initial interview, test application and interpretation to forming a diagnosis
through different decision making models and the writing of a diagnostic report).

4. Methods and statistics & research report


You meet this competency when you have acquired:

a) Knowledge about introductory statistics in social science including topics such:


univariate descriptive statistics, correlation, univariate regression, one-way analysis of
variance and a basic course in the methodology of behavioural and/or social
science research (experimentation, surveys, observational studies).

d) The ability to perform a Bachelor thesis or similar research report of at least 10


EC in the area of psychology, completing the entire empirical cycle and including
quantitative analyses.

I meet this competency via:

I will be doing my Bachelor’s thesis on the topic “ Examining the Impact of Parasocial Relationships on the Introversion
and Extroversion of Indian Youth: A Study on Social Engagement and Well-being.”
I have already submitted my thesis statement stating the proposed title, research questions and methods with the signature
of my supervisior.

5. Communication techniques
You meet this competency when you have acquired at least 5 EC showing your
communications skills including:
- Knowledge and experience with professional conversational skills based on
various conversation models used in psychological interviews (such as a
clinical intake interview).
- You can show that you can practice professional communication skills. For
example by participating in a practicum in this field which contains group
discussions and role-playing or you have practically applied these professional
communication skills during a clinical internship.

I meet this competency via the following academic courses/clinical internship:

Throughout my tenure as a Clinical Psychology Intern at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital from
February 8, 2024, to February 22, 2024, I had proficiently conducted mental status exams and meticulously gathered case
histories from over 200 patients, which facilitated accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. I had demonstrated exceptional
empathy while engaging with patients, fostering trust and rapport crucial for effective therapy and comprehensive care.
Additionally, I had utilized keen intuition to navigate complex patient presentations, thereby maximizing the learning
experience and contributing significantly to clinical insights and interventions.
