deck one last time, this time he must not complete
the cut, leaving the two piles on the table, choose
ESPDECK
EFFECT 1 – Two spectators each select an ESP
card. The magician is able to mysteriously locate a
pair of face down cards that matches perfectly with
the spectator’s selections.
SECRET – Use a pack of 20 ESP cards, that must
be sorted into 4 groups as follows. On the table,
place the cards face up and on top of each other
in this order: circle, cross, waves, square, star, cir-
cle, cross, waves, square, star… (You will get a
pile made of 4 groups with the same order - see
image at up).
PRESENTATION – Casually cut the deck a few
times so as to apparently mix the cards (cutting and
completing the cut will not affect the working of the
trick). Now deal the cards on the table putting one
on the left and one on the right, and again one on
the left and one on the right. Do this until you will
have made two piles.
Ask a spectator to choose a pile, then tell him to cut
it wherever he likes, and complete the cut. Now ask
him to take a card either from the top or bottom of
the pile and without turning it over, to place it on the
table. Remind him how as he cut the cards he could
have selected any of them. Distribute the remaining
cards of the pile in a row on the table face down,
putting them down one at a time and arranging
them from left to right. Now ask a second spectator
to help you, and do the same actions with the other
pile (the pile is cut and the first or the last card is
chosen) and place the card selected by the second
spectator next to the first selection already on the
table. Again distribute the remaining cards of the
pile in a row on the table face down, putting them
down one at a time on top of the ones already on
the table, and arranging them from left to right.
Now pretend that you are deeply concentrating on
which pair of cards from the row you should pick.
Then go ahead and pick the 5th pair from the left.
Incredibly it will match perfectly with the pair of
cards randomly chosen by the spectators!
If the pairs chosen should turn out to be made of
identical cards, for example two crosses, you can
give a final twist by turning all the pairs and showing
that they are perfect matches!
EFFECT 2 – The spectator casually forms va-
rious pairs of cards with the ESP Symbols. When
they are turned over the pairs of cards match per-
fectly with each other!
SECRET – Use a pack of 25 ESP cards that must
be sorted into 5 groups as follows. On the table,
place the cards face up and on top of each other in
this order: circle, cross, waves, square, star, circle,
cross, waves, square, star… (You will get a pile
made of 5 groups with the same order - see image
at up).

times so as to apparently mix the cards (cutting and

trick). Place the deck on the table and ask the
spectator to cut it a final time, leaving the two piles
on the table. Ask him to choose a pile and turn it
face up. Tell him that he will now have to choose
three cards, as many as the letters that make up
the word ESP, which will be taken away and elimi-
nated from this experiment and, in miming what he
must do, remove one card at random from one of
the two piles and set it aside. Now ask the specta-
tor what pile he wants to start eliminating the cards
from. He can choose to remove them all three from
the same pile, or two from one and one from the
other, or each time alternating piles and taking one
from each pile. In short, he can do whatever he
wants and you will take away the cards just as he
wishes (each time you take away a card spell one
of the letters of ESP). After removing three cards,
take the top card from each of the piles (one will
be face up and the other face down), and place the
pair together on the table. Proceed with the actions
just described (each time eliminating 3 cards from
the piles and taking the top two cards of the
piles)until it is possible to do so (with two cards in
each pile you will not be able to continue, as also
you will not be able to continue with one card in one
pile and several in the other etc. It may sound a lit-
tle complicated just by reading the instructions, but
by performing the actions you will understand for
yourself when you will have to stop in making pairs).
Remove the remaining cards from the table and
turn over the pairs: each pair will have found its
twin ESP symbol!
EFFECT 3 – After cutting a deck of ESP symbols
several times in order to mix it up, the performer
makes five separate piles that are put on the table.
In front of each pile he then places an ESP card as
a prediction. He then asks the spectator to ran-
domly choose one of the cards from each pile and
put it next to the prediction cards. When the selec-
ted cards are turned over they will match perfectly
with the predictions!

tions until you have five piles of four cards on the
table, and five cards left in your hand. Put these last
five cards (always from left to right), face up, in front
of the piles on the table. Pick up the first pile on the
left and ask the spectator to choose any card. Then
put the selected card on top of the first face up pre-
diction card (the one you had placed in front of the
first pile). Repeat the same actions with the other
piles (the spectator will select a card and it will be
put on top of the relative prediction). When the pairs
are turned over, the spectator’s selections will my-
steriously match the predictions!
EFFECT 4 – While your back is turned, the spec-
tator selects two ESP cards. When you turn around,
you are able to reveal which cards he has chosen.
SECRET – Use a pack of 25 ESP cards that must
be sorted into 5 groups as follows. On the table,
place the cards face up and on top of each other
in this order: circle, cross, waves, square, star, cir-
cle, cross, waves, square, star… (You will get a
pile made of 5 groups with the same order - see

trick).Now tell a spectator that he can also cut as
many times as he likes, always completing the cut.
Now turn your back on him, and ask him cut the
one pile, and turn it face up. Now tell him to choose
two cards (remind him that as he cut so many times
the top cards of the piles will be completely ran-
dom), he can take the two on top of one pile or the
two on top of the other pile, or even the top card of
each of the piles. Instruct him to put the chosen
cards face down on the table, and to take away one
of the two piles that are on the table.
Finally, turn around, pick up the remaining pile and
pretending to concentrate take out the cards in the
fourth and fifth position (if the pile that remains on
the table is face up, take out the fourth and fifth
card holding the pile face up. If the pile is face down,
take out the fourth and fifth card holding the pile
face down).
Your cards will match perfectly with the cards selec-
ted by the spectator!
EFFECT 5 - The deck of ESP cards is shuffled by
a spectator, then the magician shows a card case
saying that there is a prediction inside. He puts 5
cards face down on the table. A spectator chooses
one and it will match the prediction!
SECRET - Use the 25 ESP cards ordered as in ef-
fect 4. Even if the spectator shuffles them, at least
first he can see that there are various symbols in
it repeated 5 times each. Beneath the card case,
hide 5 cards with the same symbol on them, face
down. In the box, put a sixth card with the same
symbol, or if you prefer, a piece of paper with the
written prediction.
PRESENTATION - Have a spectator check and
shuffle the deck. While doing so, hold the case in
the right hand, between your thumb on the short
inner side and your middle and ring finger on the
short outer side (also holding the 5 secret cards hid-
den underneath in place). When the spectator re-
turns the deck, take it with your left hand and
casually place the box on it, After you have dropped
the hidden cards on the deck, immediately lift the
box showing it on both sides, ande state that it con-
tains a prediction. Then place it on the table. Distri-
bute the first 5 cards of the deck (that are now all
the same) face down on the table, reminding the
spectator that he shuffled the deck. Any card he
chooses will now match the prediction in the box!
NOTES - You can also use more than 25 cards for
this effect, always adding groups of 5 different
cards. If you want to show the card case freely on
both sides from the start, you can do this. Keep the
5 identical cards hidden in your left hand. With your
right, casually show the case on both sides and then
place it on the cards on the left. Do this while asking
the spectator to shuffle the deck.
