General Eligibility Criteria and Selection Procedure

I) Master’s degree with 55% aggregate marks in a relevant discipline or equivalent,

subject to clearing RU-PET exam and Interview. (5% relaxation to SC/ ST/ OBC
(non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled candidates)
II) However the candidates who have passed the National Level Test like UGC/CSIR
(JRF) examination / NET / SLET / GATE/teacher fellowship holder, M.Phil etc or
its equivalent shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test.

Duration

The minimum and maximum duration of the PhD Programme are 3 years and 6
years respectively.

Steps to Research Degree

In this section, the important steps which doctoral students are expected to follow are listed.
We assure that if you proceed along these steps you should be able to complete your doctoral
 work in a smooth and effective way. You are advised to keep checking on these steps as you
pursue your research.

Steps before Registration

1. When a candidate aspires to do PhD at Rai University, Ahmedabad, he/she needs to

look for Admission Advertisement on the University Website as well as leading dailies
across the country.
2. The Information Brochure and Application Form will be placed on the
University Website. The prospective candidate needs to download the Application
Form and fill in the details. It is important for the prospective candidate to respond to
each and every item contained in the Application Form. If there is inadequate or wrong
information, his/her Application Form is likely to be rejected.
3. The candidate must ensure that the Application Fee, as indicated in the Advertisement,
in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Rai University” payable at Ahmedabad
is attached with his/her Application Form.
4. Copies of all documents testifying the information submitted in the Application are
attached along with the Application Form.
5. Upon the receipt of the Application Form at Rai University, an initial scrutiny will
be made to examine if all the essential conditions of eligibility are met and relevant
documents are attached with the Application Fee.
6. The University will conduct the Entrance Examination on the date fixed for the purpose.
7. Candidates who are successful in the Entrance Examination (RU-PET) will be duly
informed and called for Personal Interview and Topic Selection with the Board of
Research Studies – CRD, the same will be followed by provisional registration in the
Ph.D. Programme.
