LISTENING ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINE

Instructions
Record a 5-minute video, talking about a TV show you enjoy watching. In the video, you
should mention:
1. The show introduction
A short description of the show’s genre, and THREE most memorable things about
the show (e.g., mission, topics, host, winning prizes, viewership, running length, etc.)
2. Summary of one episode
A brief summary of what goes on in a single episode. Make sure to include enough
contexts (e.g., characters and their relationships).
3. The episode’s entertainment values (e.g., humor, surprise, and thrill factors)
4. The episode’s language values, which may include:
- Spoken structures and idiom usage
- Academic vocabulary
- Unusual stress and intonation that carry meaning
- Cultural knowledge
Clarify how you can adapt these learned items.
**You can use extracts from the show for illustration, but they should not exceed 45 seconds
in total. The video assignment should be uploaded to YouTube and handed in to your class
instructor BY week 8.
