Right Windows License

• When supplying PCs to commercial customers, Windows OS for first use must be
pre-installed on PCs even if they are volume license customers. The Windows OS
license provided under the volume license agreement is an upgrade license. That is,
before installing Windows volume license upgrades, all PCs must be equipped with the
first use license provided as a legitimate OS license which is at least Windows Pro or
higher.

• The most common licensing mistake is to apply the volume license directly
without the first use license. Customers often sign up for a Windows volume license
then apply it on PCs without pre-installed the OS for first-time users. In this case, you
can solve the licensing mistakes by purchasing Get Genuine Solution (GGWA), but
this may incur several times the extra cost as well as legal liabilities.
Educate Right Windows License
Case 1. Customer A who has a Volume License 1. Who : The customer owns a volume license under an
enterprise agreement.
2. Situation : They have recently distributed RFPs with a goal
of replacing old PCs to device manufacturers that specifies
Customer A that they “do not need to propose an OS.” The company
finally chosen as vendor #1 after submitting a quotation
Order Naked PC OEM and a proposal, completed the supply of PCs not pre-
installed with Windows to Customer A.
Distis 3. Analysis : We confirmed midway through the process that
an employee from a license partner has provided
Volume License misguidance, leading the customer to make a
misjudgment.
4. Conclusion : Need to notify the customer about improper
licensing. The customer and the license partner need are
currently in a dispute over the cost of the scheduled
purchase of a legitimate license.
Case 2. Customer B who has a GGWA License
1. Who : The customer has a Get Genuine Windows Agreement
(GGWA) license.
2. Situation : In the RFPs, they specified their intention to
Customer B purchase “Free-DOS PCs” because they prefer to use an
internal license.
Order Naked PC OEM 3. Analysis : OEM A informed Customer A that GGWA is a
solution that legalizes existing non-licensed PCs, and
Distis therefore, GGWA cannot be applied on new PCs. They then
submitted a quotation for PCs pre-installed with Windows 11
GGWA License Pro.
4. Conclusion : The customer is in the process of bidding for a
revised order for PCs pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro.
