Student Research Practitioner, Inclusive Education: Problem of Practice Evaluation.
Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE); Boston Public Schools (BPS) District.
Course Credit, December 2014.
Supervisor: Thomas Hehir, Ed.D.
Program Description: An annual collaborative research project between BPS and HGSE
that is intended to resolve problems of practice relevant to the inclusion of children with
disabilities in the traditional classroom. Under the direction of the U.S. Department of
Education’s Office of Special Education Programs’ Former Director Thomas Hehir,
Ed.D., our team chose to focus on facilitating better communication between BPS parents
and faculty to: (1) inform parents of the nature and benefits of inclusive education, and
(2) harmonize and achieve family and school objectives for all students in an inclusive
education environment. Our plan was chosen by the school principal of our assigned
school site to be executed in the academic year of 2015-2016.
