Dear ENG4C Student,

Please allow me to take this opportunity to introduce myself; my name is Mr. Jesse Watson and I will be your ENG4C
grade 12 College English teacher this semester. I'm looking forward to teaching you and getting to know you, and would like to
tell you a little bit about myself to help us to get off to a great start.

I am a 43-year-old Ottawa native, however, I have travelled to several cities in Canada and around the globe. I grew up in
a home with both of my parents and two younger siblings. I myself have three children: Ethan, who is 10, Brayden, who is 9 and
Liam who is 5 years old. When I’m not spending time with my family and friends, I pursue many other hobbies and interests. I
love hockey, both playing and watching it on television. I’m a huge Shakespeare fan and in 2016, I had the opportunity to speak
about the work in do in education at the World Shakespeare Congress in London, England.

When I was in high school, my favourite subject was English, and I enjoyed extracurricular activities such alpine skiing.
As a student, academic strengths of mine included reading, writing, and oral communication. I always struggled in my math and
science courses; processing abstract concepts and memorizing equations was very challenging for me. I was very lucky to have
many incredible teachers during my school experience, and this inspired me to become a teacher myself. I am now in my
eighteenth year of teaching; I taught at St. Peter High School for 10 years before transfering to St. Patrick’s High School as a
Department Head in 2015, then took an opportunity to work as a Consultant of English and Language from 2017-2019. I took on
the role of Department Head of English at Holy Trinity beginning in September of 2019. I love teaching and feel very lucky to
have found a career path that is both rewarding and fun, and allows me to work with amazing students like yourself!

Thank you for taking the time to read this long email. I look forward to getting to know you better this semester, and being
a part of the final leg of your academic journey at Holy Trinity. Please do not hesitate to ask me any further questions about this
course or myself.

Sincerely,

Mr. Watson
