HSP Benefits

Benefits Description
This includes:
• Medical cover – comprehensive
cover while on deployment for
INSURANCE employee.
• Travel insurance – comprehensive
cover while on deployment for
employee, as well leisure travel cover
for employee and dependants.
• Life Assurance cover
33 working days paid holiday per 12
months within which is included any
ANNUAL LEAVE entitlement to statutory Public Holidays
which fall in your deployment location. This
entitlement does increase with the number
year worked for Oxfam.
Oxfam GB will reimburse any OGB income
related tax incurred in your home country.
TAX Any tax incurred in your country of work will
be paid directly by Oxfam where required.

We have various options that will contribute


towards helping you plan for your retirement.
We will discuss these with you when you join
us. This can include membership of Oxfam‘s
PENSION Nurture Stakeholder Scheme, or
membership of a Bona Fide Pension
scheme. Should these options not be
available to you, an end of employment
payment may be considered.

If you wish to maintain your social insurance,


social security or state pension contributions
HOME COUNTRY CONTRIBUTIONS whilst away from your home base, we can
make some contribution towards this – we
can discuss further at the time of
appointment.

HSP TOIL applies as follows:

A) A maximum of two days TOIL per


month when working long hours may
be agreed by the line manager in
HSP TOIL country and should be taken within
two weeks of working the long hours
whilst on assignment. This cannot be
accrued or taken forward to the next
assignment.
B) One day of TOIL must be taken after
a long haul flight on the way out to an
assignment and on the way back (in
addition to a).
C) Whilst travelling away from the home
base, one day in lieu for each full
week of travel away from the home
base up to 10 working days per
annum (pro rata) to be taken on
returning from assignments (in
addition to a) and b)).

If local rest and recuperation has been taken


this would replace the TOIL detailed in a).

REST AND RECUPERATION Due to the particularly difficult working


environment in many deployment locations
and the nature of the response, rest and
recuperation arrangements in country may
apply. Details regarding R&R will be shared
for each deployment.

HSP’s who are based in a country or specific


area within a country that has been
designated a HTW location for 1 month or
HARD TO WORK (HTW) more, are entitled to receive a HTW
allowance of £4,000 NET per annum, pro
rata. (This allowance is not guarantee for
every deployment, it is dependent on the
country)
While on deployment HSP’s will be entitled
to a per diem (the per diem is dependent on
PER DIEM country policy. Some countries will not have
a per diem however staff will then be
reimbursed for their expenses).
You will be entitled to a flight to and from
FLIGHTS HOME your home base between deployments.

Oxfam courses both Oxford based and Pick
Up and Go etc.
Oxfam GB will pay the cost of your housing
whilst on deployment. You will usually be
ACCOMMODATION expected to live in a team house deemed
suitable by Oxfam GB and food/expenses for
food will be provided in the team house.
