Students will be provided with differentiated tasks

Time Lesson Structure

Starter (Introduction Phase)

Students will view an image of a girl entering an imaginary land


through a wardrobe and will be asked the question “ What’s behind
2-3 mins the wardrobe”. Feedback will be taken. (Think-pair-share).

Lesson implementation

3 mins They will then be asked if “Do you think the girl will go inside?” Feedback to be taken.(Think-
pair-share).
3-4 mins
They will then be asked if “If you were in her place, would you go inside and why?” Students’
2-3 mins response to be recorded.(Think-pair-share).
4 mins Students will now see a video and describe what they think the girl can see, taste, touch, smell and
hear. They will note down points and share them.

Students will now watch a video and familiarize themselves with


four forms of figurative language i-e Alliteration, Personification,
5 mins Simile and Metaphor. Feedback to be taken.

Students to read a poem and take out the four elements they learnt
above. (Groupwork).

Students will be asked about the effect these elements have on the given song lyrics. (Groupwork)

5 mins Students will be asked “Why does the poet want to live in another place? What kind of place is he
imagining?” Feedback will be taken.

Students will now write their own poems according to topics allocated to them.
