Assignment 2

Application: Smart Traffic Management System

Name: Smart Traffic Management System

Purpose: To optimize traffic flow, improve road safety, and reduce congestion in
urban areas.

Input: Real-time traffic data from various sources including cameras,

sensors, GPS devices, and mobile apps, as well as historical traffic data
for trend analysis and predictive modeling.
Output: Real-time traffic data, dynamic traffic signals, and alerts for road
incidents or hazards.

Function: Continuous monitoring of traffic conditions using sensors (e.g.,

cameras, radar, loop detectors) deployed at key intersections and road segments,
analysis of traffic patterns and congestion levels, and adaptive control of traffic
signals to prioritize high-traffic routes and mitigate bottlenecks.

Performance: Accurate detection and prediction of traffic congestion and

incidents, responsive adjustment of traffic signal timings to minimize delays and
improve traffic flow, and integration with emergency services for rapid response
to accidents or emergencies.

Power: Reliable power supply to ensure continuous operation of traffic

management equipment, with backup power sources (e.g., batteries, generators)
to maintain functionality during power outages.

Physical Size: Compact and weatherproof design for outdoor installation, with
vandal-resistant enclosures to protect equipment from tampering and
environmental damage.
Cost: Cost-effective deployment of traffic management solutions, with options
for scalable implementations that can be tailored to the size and complexity of
urban road networks.
