March 2024
To Whom it May Concern,
I am pleased to recommend Alexis Hsu for the position of new graduate nurse. I had
the pleasure of working with Alexis during the fall semester of 2023 as a Teaching Associate and
Clinical Instructor at The University of Arizona College of Nursing in the course entitled “Acute
and Chronic Illness Management II”. This course integrates the principles of advanced medical
and surgical nursing theory, pathophysiology, and pharmacology into high acuity nursing
practice. I supervised this student in a high acuity medical/surgical clinical practice setting
including intermediate care and intensive care units. In addition, I observed this student actively
participating in clinical development sessions including simulation and lab settings.
Alexis is a strong student who is a self-directed, independent learner. She seeks clinical
experiences which challenge her to grow in the delivery of integrated nursing care. She
demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities with complex, high
acuity patient populations. She also exhibited insight into patient and family care needs as a
developing patient advocate. Alexis has a calm demeanor and intuitive approach to delivering
care, and blends this with genuine compassion when providing integrated nursing care to
acutely ill patients and their families.
Alexis is a fast learner and demonstrated a strong nursing skill set in high acuity populations.
She demonstrated flexibility in the clinical setting, adapting to the needs of her patients and the
unit. Alexis worked well with patients, family, and staff, always maintaining a sense of
professionalism. Overall, Alexis is an excellent candidate for an entry level nursing position in a
high acuity, complex care environment. If you have any questions about Alexis’s qualifications,
please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Kelly Clark RN, MSN, OCN
