Section C:

1. What is the most common and least common color?

The most common color in my bag of skittles was ORANGE

2. What is the relative frequency for RED Skittles? Relative Frequency for the
Red skittles:
12 ÷ 61 = .19672 = 19.672 %

3. Conjecture the number of Skittles of the most common color if you had a
bag of 5,000 total Skittles.

Orange Skittles frequency = 17 ÷ 61 = .27868852 = 27.868%

27.868 % of 5,000 = 1,393 Orange Skittles

Section D:

Were the Skittles you used a random sample? Explain.

Yes, the skittles I used do represent a random sample. The manufacturing and packaging
of skittles is based off a weight (2.17 ounces) not how many of each color make it into
each individual bag.

Section E:

5. Carry out a simulation for the red skittles with 10,000 trials to test of these
hypotheses: H0: p = .02

HA: p ≠ .02

Based off the information below and sampled above, I can appropriately fail to reject the
null hypothesis.
