SPEECH COMPETITION ON THE OCCASION OF


DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR JAYANTI
THEME:” CONSOLIDATING AND SUSTAINING HUMAN RIGHTS CULTURE INTO THE
FUTURE”.

RULES:
1. Eligibility:
 The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in the GEHU (Graphic Era
Hill University), Dehradun, and GEU (Graphic Era deemed to be University).
 Each participant must be a registered student in the current academic session.
2. Topic:
 The topic of the speech competition is “Human Rights: Common Language For
Humanity”.
3. Speech Duration:
 Each participant will be given a maximum of 1.5 minutes to deliver their speech.
 A 30-second grace period will be allowed, after which penalties may be applied.
4. Registration:
 Interested participants must register by 06:00 p.m. on 15 April, 2024.
 Participants must complete the official registration form available at
https://forms.gle/4Eft5ndRFXg3ED4FA to confirm their participation.

 Late registrations will not be accepted.


5. Preparation:
 Participants are encouraged to conduct thorough research on the topic and maintain the
originality.
 The use of visual aids (Reference papers/ Reading Material), props, or multimedia
presentations is not allowed. The focus should be on verbal communication.
 Participants should not use any abusive or offensive language. Participants are expected
to maintain a respectful and professional tone throughout their speeches.
6. Evaluation Criteria:
 Content (40 points): Relevance to the theme, depth of understanding, and clarity of the
message.
 Original and Legal Perspectives (30 points): Incorporation of legal principles and
understanding of human rights laws.
 Delivery (30 points): Articulation, tone, and overall presentation skills.
7. Judging Panel:
 A panel of judges:
 Judges' decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
8. Prizes:
 Certificates of participation will be provided to all participants.
 The top three participants will receive certificates of achievement and trophies.
9. Event Date and Venue:
 The competition will take place on April 16, 2024, i.e., Tuesday at Seminar Hall at
10:30 a.m.
 Participants must arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
10. Dress Code:
 Participants are expected to dress in professional attire.
11. Code of Conduct:
 Participants must adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
 Plagiarism or the use of pre-written speeches is strictly prohibited.
12. Audience Engagement:
 Maximum audience members are encouraged to attend but respectful and attentive
behaviour is expected from all attendees.
13. Queries and Clarifications:
 Participants may seek clarifications on competition rules by contacting the event
coordinator, at least a day prior to the competition date by 06:00 p.m.

By participating in this speech competition, students not only contribute to the celebration of
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti but also engage in a valuable exercise that promotes a deeper
understanding of the universal principles that bind us as human beings.

Registration Deadline: 15 April, 2024 (latest by 6:00 p.m. IST)
Competition Date/Time: 16 April, 2024; 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon IST.
Venue: Meeting Hall, Ground Floor, GEHU, Dehradun (Main Building).
