LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. Define transverse waves.
2. Identify the direction of transverse waves as it travelled.
3. Appreciate the importance of waves in a real situation.

II. LEARNING TASKS

A. SUBJECT MATTER: Transverse Waves
1. CONCEPT
Waves – A wave is a disturbance or variation that travels through a medium,
transferring energy from one point to another without causing any permanent displacement
of the medium itself. In the context of transverse waves, the vibrating element moves in a
direction perpendicular to the direction of advance of the wave. This motion creates a
pattern of crests and troughs as the wave propagates through the medium. Waves can be
classified into different types, such as transverse waves and longitudinal waves, based on
the direction of particle displacement relative to the direction of wave propagation.
Vibration -refers to a repetitive motion or oscillation of an object around an
equilibrium position. In the case of transverse vibration, the element moves to
and from in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the advance of the
wave. This type of motion creates transverse waves, where the particles of the
medium vibrate perpendicularly at right angles, up and down, and continue
to move in the direction of the wave.
Transverse waves - refers to a type of vibration or wave in which the element moves
to and from in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the advance of the wave.
This means that the motion of the vibrating element is at right angles to the direction of
the wave's propagation. Transverse waves are characterized by the oscillation of all
points on the wave along paths that are at right angles to the direction of the wave's
advance. Examples of transverse waves include surface ripples on water, seismic S
(secondary) waves, and electromagnetic waves such as radio and light waves.
