12. Segmentation Architecture:

list of virtual-to-physical address translations for the corresponding hashed virtual page number. Hashed

14. Inverted Page Table Architecture:

The Inverted Page Table Architecture is a technique used to address the memory overhead of

entry in the inverted page table stores the virtual page number and the corresponding process

9. Synchronous I/O:

to implement and manage but can result in idle CPU time if the I/O operation takes a significant

Asynchronous I/O:
Asynchronous I/O, also known as non-blocking I/O, is a type of input/output operation where
the program execution continues immediately after issuing the I/O request, without waiting for
the operation to complete. The operating system or I/O subsystem handles the I/O operation in
the background, and the program can continue executing other tasks. Asynchronous I/O allows
for better utilization of CPU time by overlapping I/O operations with other computations, but it
requires more complex programming models and handling of callbacks or events to handle the
completion of I/O operations.

10. Memory-mapped I/O:


Memory-mapped I/O is a technique where the I/O devices are accessed using memory
instructions. It involves mapping the registers or control buffers of an I/O device directly into
the address space of the process. The process can read from or write to these memory
addresses as if they were normal memory locations. Memory-mapped I/O provides a simple
and efficient way to access I/O devices, as they can be accessed using the same load and store
instructions used for accessing memory. This technique eliminates the need for separate I/O
instructions and can improve performance in certain scenarios.

11. Direct Memory Access (DMA):


Direct Memory Access (DMA) is a mechanism that allows certain I/O devices to transfer data
directly to or from memory without involving the CPU. DMA transfers reduce the CPU's
involvement in data transfer and can significantly improve I/O performance. With DMA, the I/O
device gains control of the system bus and transfers data directly between the device and
memory,

bypassing the CPU. The CPU is notified once the DMA transfer is complete. DMA is particularly
useful for high-speed data transfer operations, such as disk I/O or network data transfers.

12. Interrupt Handler:


An interrupt handler, also known as an interrupt service routine (ISR), is a function or routine
that is executed in response to an interrupt signal generated by hardware or software. When
an interrupt occurs, the CPU suspends its current execution and transfers control to the
interrupt handler. The interrupt handler performs the necessary actions to handle the
interrupt, such as processing the data or event associated with the interrupt. Once the
interrupt handler completes its execution, the CPU resumes the interrupted program or task.
Interrupt handlers play a crucial role in managing and responding to various events and
signals in the system, including I/O operations, timer events, hardware exceptions, and
