edX Courses: Implementation Procedure

About edX Courses:

➢ Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) entered a


Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the world’s top online learning
platform ‘edX’.
➢ The objective of the MoU is to provide certification from the world’s best
universities in advanced courses to all 12 Lakh students in Higher Education
Institutions in the state with in a year.
➢ The total 12 Lakh edX learner licenses will be distributed to the students in three
phases by rotation. Once in every 4 months, 4 Lakh learner licenses will be
activated to 4 Lakh Students.
Action Plan for Implementation:
➢ The edX course is included in the curriculum and made a mandatory course for all
the students in Higher Education.
➢ The edX courses are to be included in the curriculum in all UG & PG
Conventional degree programmes as per the list mentioned below:
Semester UG - Conventional Degree PG - Conventional Degree
Details (B.Sc, B.Com, B.A, BBA, BCA, etc.) (M.Sc, M.Com, M.A, MBA, MCA, etc.)

METHODOLOGY
Registration of a Course:
➢ Once courses are approved by the respective Board of Studies (BoS), the
University is directed to include the course in the regular timetable and assign a
faculty member as a mentor.
➢ Once the licenses are activated, all the activated edX learners have to enrol to the
courses approved by their respective BoS.
➢ The mentor has to ensure that the students of his/her class are enrolled to the
course or not.
➢ Once the courses are enrolled, the Mentor should display the course video
through his/her edX learner license to all the students in the class as per the
timetable.
➢ After completion of the video (around 40 to 45 minutes), the mentor should
discuss the same topics with all the students and also clarify the doubts during the
last 10 to 15 minutes of the class.

➢ After this, the students shall learn the same topics through their activated edX
licenses.
➢ The students can monitor their progress in the course through the dashboard.
➢ Further, the students can post their queries or interact with the same peer group
through the Discussion tab available in the edX portal.
➢ The edX platform will assess the performance of the student in every topic.
➢ The students are free to learn as many courses as they can. They need not limit
themselves to the courses approved by BoS.
➢ Students are encouraged to obtain as many certifications as possible because
these certifications will enhance their skills and employment potential.
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY
Internal Evaluation:
➢ The edX will provide students’ assessment to all the Universities / Colleges.
➢ The University may consider edX assessment as the students’ internal
assessment in that course and is to be converted into marks in accordance with
the academic regulations of the Program.

External Evaluation:
➢ The University/College shall conduct the external examination in the course along
with all other courses.
➢ The University/College should follow the evaluation of the course as per the
academic regulations of the program.
