A BUSY MONTH

IMPORTANT POINTS
 Indian robin makes its nest with soft twigs, roots, wool, hair, grass and
cotton wool.
 Koel lays its egg in crow’s nest. The crow hatches them along with its
own eggs.
 Sparrow and pigeons make their nest anywhere in the house.
 The barbet or coppersmith makes its nest in a hole in a tree trunk.
 Tailor bird uses its sharp beak to stitch together two leaves on a bush to
make its nest. It lays eggs in the fold of the leaf that it makes.
 Sunbird makes its nest with grass, hair, thin twigs, bits of tree bark,
pieces of cloth rags and even spider’s cobwebs.
 Birds build nest to hatch eggs, raise the chicks safely and to keep them
safe from enemies.
 Birds have many enemies- humans, squirrels, cats, snake etc.
 Birds leave the nest ones the chicks are grown.
 Do not touch the bird’s nest, if we touch its nest they will not to the nest
again.
 Different birds have different kinds of beaks and claws according to their
needs.
Use of feet
 To swim in water.
 To hold the tree branches.
 To catch the pray.
 To climb the tree.
 To walk on the land.
Use of beak
 To tear and eat meat.
 To make holes in wood and tree trunks.
 To suck nectar from flowers.
 To find insects and worms from mud and to shallow water.
 To break and crush seeds.
 To cut and eat many kinds of food.

 Animals have different types of teeth.


 Cows have short front teeth for snipping grass. Large and flat side
teeth for chewing grass.
 Cats have sharp teeth for tearing and cutting meat.
 Snakes have sharp curved teeth, but they don’t chew their pray.
They sallow their food.
 Squirrel’s front teeth keep growing throughout their life.
