Where it is not so strong and therefore needs reinforcement; where it is weak and therefore
needs fortifying.
weaknesses and strengths, they will fortify and reinforce; not settling parin.
• Nationalism accepts praise and criticism from our own people but not from people outside
the country according to Churchill's definition.
• Winston Churchill was an inspirational statesman, writer, orator and leader who led Britain
to victory in the Second World War.
• Opposite of extreme nationalism is Inter-nationalism which accepts the views of people
from the country and people outside the country. It is a generous and wide concept. It does
not accept belief without strong reasons and discrimination with the lack of understanding
and sympathy.
• We can be chauvinistic when having nationalism. Kase sa sobrang pagmamahal or focus

chanarest kg r P10: Internationalism and extreme nationalism complements each other in
ideal circumstances.
Kumbaga connected parin sila sa isa't isa. Ang internationalism ay mas extended and
enlighted (mas may knowledge) from nationalism. So pagsinasabing magfocus sa economic,
political, social aspects ng bansa, that does not means nine-neglect natin yung mga views
internationalism at nationalism ay parehong hindi unfriendly methods but developments to
produce values and world attitudes. Ang internationalism at nationalism ay complementary
but parehong para sa paglago. - co-exirHnu
• P11: It is evident that our brand of nationalism is different from that of our accusers. We
have no desire and we have never attempted to deny the national self-interest of other
peoples in their own countries. We merely want to defend our own, in our own territory. Ibig
regard interest nila, but merely nagfofocus tayo sa ating territory to bear fruit and develop.
• We are nationalists but we can livein harmony with other nationalists.
ibang bansa. AYUN ANG POSSIBLE ADVANTAGE BUT, kung ang nationalist are "bent" o
At kung ayun ang nagiging mindset, that is
not a true nationalist but ultra-nationalist who overruns other countries.
• "Ultra" is a Latin word which means beyond in space, as in the terms "plus ultra" and "non
plus ultra."
• An ultranationalist, therefore, is one who wants to be first not only in his own country.
An imperialist.
Nationalism vs. patriotism George F. Will’s statement [“Ukraine: A crisis that matters,” op-ed,
Feb. 20] that “nationalism is a necessary, although insufficient impulse sustaining liberty”
needs clarifying. Nationalism must be distinguished from patriotism. Patriotism is
fundamental to liberty because pride in one’s nation-state, and a willingness to defend it if
necessary, is the basis of national independence. Patriotism is the courage of national self-
determination. By contrast, nationalism is patriotism transformed into a sentiment of
superiority and aggression toward other countries. Nationalism is the poisonous idea that
one’s country is superior to somebody else’s. Nationalism is intrinsically a cause of war and
imperialism. In the Ukraine conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin is a nationalist
imperialist and the Kiev protesters are patriots. Ronald Tiersky, Amherst,Mass.
