Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

I want my students to be able to identify numbers one through 20 with their parents, sibling or
friends. Then with that parent, sibling or friend find the number less than or more than the number
they have identified. The podcast would be given on a Friday or be used for a lesson for virtual
school day. It would be given on a Friday so that they can do the work over the weekend with their
family. Then when they came back to school, we as a class would talk about all the numbers we
found and then talk about what was less or more than that number. My podcast would identify the
standard so that my students have a goal in mind. The goal for my students is to have a fun time
while learning. And by building a community by having their parents interact with this lesson. I also
want to keep my students interest in mine so allowing them to do this with their parents help me
show what their interests are. I will conclude the lesson once everybody has shared their story. And I
can tell that my class has a firm understanding of the standard.
Managing student learning:
Allowing my students to get up and share with the class moves them from passive to active social
learners. Allowing them to get up and share with the class lets them be engage and be active in their
learning. I will let each of my students have 5 minutes to talk about the numbers they have learned
with their parent, sibling, or friend over the weekend. Before we start, I would have a set of rules on
the board to make sure that we stay on topic. Things like only talking about the numbers that you
have learned. Don't talk about other things that aren't relevant to numbers. As they speak, I would
have a timer in the background counting down from 5 minutes so that my students are aware of
how much time they have left.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.

My podcast is a audio media that has a transcript, and the transcript is translated in a different
language. Giving the information in more than one format, this uses UDL principle Representation.
Students who have a language barrier can use this lesson because the transcript can be translated in
different languages. Allowing the student of any background to be able work with their parents
despite the language they may speak. This will not only help those with language barriers but keep
the student engaged. The UDL principle Engagement says that teachers help students engage with
learning by giving them choices and autonomy by incorporating their interest. Letting students over
the weekend learn their numbers with their friends or family helps them incorporate their interest.
This helps them keep engaged not only in the classroom but when they get home as well.
Reflection:
I feel this will impact students learning positively because they are creating a learning environment
at home and with their community. I look forward to hearing the numbers my students learned over
the weekend with their families.
