Congregation for the Clergy, The Gift of Priestly Vocation: Ratio
Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis (Pasay City: Paulines Publishing House,
2017), 10. [Hereafter RFIS-2016]
If we allow accompaniment to take just any
direction without a clear program (formation itinerary),
most probably there will be no growth and the person will
not be truly formed. An accompaniment where growth is
not seen is a waste of time and effort.
Chapter One:
ASPIRANCY STAGE: PROPAEDEUTIC
Introduction
As stated in our Constitutions no. 63, “To the young people whom
the Lord calls to consecrate themselves to Him in our Congregation should
be asked to undergo a period of discernment and formation.” A similar
provision can be found in the General Directory of the Missionaries of Faith
[Hereafter GD] no.100:
“We must begin a process of discernment of vocation with those who
believe that they have discovered in themselves the call, through
listening to the Word of God, praying, and doing fraternal dialogue
(personal accompaniment). Those then who feel called to full
communion with our Congregation are to know and to experience,
in some way, our life and our mission.”

B. Objectives
C. Core Values
Aimed Core Values in formation: Aspirancy as a stage of transition from
the common life of adolescents and young men outside the structured life of
religious formation necessitates certain specific value-centered formation
that seeks to contribute to the objective of vocation discernment. These
values are: Honesty, Trustworthiness, Openness, and Docility.
D. Dimensions of Formation
1. Human Dimension: A journey into oneself to discover,
appreciate, and attain respect and appreciation for self and
others.

advent of God's Kingdom, but before sending them out on mission, Jesus
wanted his disciples to "stay with him" so that by listening to him and being
with him (discipleship), they may become like him (configuration), in
persona Christi capitis.
The first level of Postulancy, that corresponds to the first two years
of Philosophy studies, focuses on the growth towards self-identity and
human maturity. Human formation, which starts communally and generally
during Aspirancy, focuses on the personal level and individual prevalent
issues of each postulant seeking to make the candidate "fully human," a
fertile ground for the grace of vocation to germinate and flourish.
