Features
• Narrow Nose design suitable for deep, hard to reach
areas.
• Integral design eliminates runout created by
assembling of multiple pieces (collet-type shrink fit).
• High accuracy (less than 0.0001” at nose)
• Can be utilized with Carbide, Cobalt or High Speed
Steel cutting tools.
• Easy mechanical clamping yielding rigidity equal to
a shrink fit toolholder.
• Micron Mold Chucks are suitable for spindle speeds
up to 15,000RPM. High speed versions are
available upon request.

Linking Productivity and Precision
The shrink fit toolholder’s inside diameter is designed to be slightly smaller than the shank of the
cutting tool. When placed in the induction heating system, the inside diameter of the clamping end is
heated and expands. The tool shank then can be easily inserted into the toolholder. As the toolholder
is cooled, the resulting thermal contraction exerts a tremendous, uniform pressure on the entire surface
of the cutting tool shank. To remove the tool the process is reversed.
Benefits
• High precision and repeatability
• High rigidity and gripping torque
• Easy tool loading and unloading
• High repeatability of balance
• Increased cutting tool life
• Low maintenance costs
• Simple symmetrical design
Applications
• High speed machining applications
• High power machining applications
• High precision milling applications
• High precision drilling applications
• High precision reaming applications
Extreme heat is involved in the loading and unloading
of Shrink Fit Toolholders. It is highly recommended
• Hard to reach applications
that the operator wear high temperature heat resistant
gloves.
Superior Balance
Well suited for high speed operations primarily due to a completely symmetrical clamping portion with
no moving components. All Shrink Fit Toolholders are pre-balanced (see table below) to a precise de-
gree. With no set screws, wrench flats, collet nuts or moving parts to compensate for the toolholder un-
balance varies only slightly from its original precise balanced level. High balance levels allow increase
in speed and feed rates, better surface finishes and increased cutting tool lives. When higher levels of
balance are required, balanceable Shrink Fit Toolholders can be provided upon request.
Superior Rigidity
The average gripping force imposed on the shank of the cutting tool exceeds any collet or hydraulic
chuck. Shrink Fit Toolholders provide a uniform concentric grip on the cutting tool shank on the entire
length of the bore. The higher gripping force of a Shrink Fit Toolholder also provides a low cost, vari-
able alternative to integral shank tools.
Superior Design
The Shrink Fit Tooling system is one of most versatile systems to use. The narrow nose diameter con-
struction is suited for deep cavity and thin wall machining. The simple clamping method also allows for
a shorter gage length than conventional hydraulic, collet or milling chucks.
Options
Shrink Fit Toolholders are available, upon request with lateral coolant ports, ID chip holes, form B cool-
ant (CV & BT taper) or high precision balancing.

Length Setting Adapters are used to preset the set length of your
shrink fit toolholders prior to the shrinking process. Simply insert
the cutting tool into the Length Setting Adapter and insert it into the
shrink fit toolholder. By rotating the Length Setting Adapter you
can increase or decrease the set length by rotating the adjustment
screw to the desired length. The “L” length (80mm) must be de-
ducted from the total measurement in order to realize the desired
set length. The Length Setting Adapter is then removed and the
tool is shrunk in.

Our Radial Compensation Tool is not only extremely effective but simple to use. The modular design
of the system allows you to interchange the tapers and
clamping portions of the tools minimizing the amount of
inventory required and allowing for inexpensive part
changes. The Radial Compensation Toolholders utilize
four (4) Mounting Bolts to fasten the two components and
four (4) Adjustment Screws to zero-out your T.I.R. Maximum
amount of adjustment is 30µm (0.0012”) at the cutting edge.
Benefits
• High precision and repeatability
• Improved surface finish
• Increased cutting tool life
• Eliminate defective parts
• Industry standard collet system
• Rapid and precise adjustment
• Modular system
Applications
• High precision drilling application
• High precision reaming applications
• Applications requiring the highest levels of:
- Parallelism
- Roundness
- Cylindricity
Place tool in a tool presetter and check run- Slightly loosen the Mounting Bolts, rotate
out. If adjustment is necessary, locate the the tool to the closest adjustment screw,
point of maximum runout. and adjust accordingly. Check the runout, if
adjustment is necessary, adjust the

SYNCHROFER TAPHOLDERS
SYNCHROFER FEATURES
Improved Thread Quality
Synchrofer compensates both radially and axially for the minor differences between the machine pro-
gram, actual operation and hole location. By compensating for these minor differences the Synchrofer
produces a more accurate and cleaner thread.
Greater Productivity
Longer tap life creates longer cycle times. Longer cycle times means fewer tap changes. Fewer tap
changes require less inventory reducing carrying costs and tool changing time. Longer cycle times also
allow unattended machining. All these factors lead to greater productivity and greater cost savings.
Superior Design
Our unique Synchrofer construction utilizes all steel construction, not plastic like other synchronous
tapholder manufacturers. Synchrofer design allows for use with standard quick change tap adapters,
slotted tap adapters, standard ER Tap collets or ER Coolant Tap collets avoiding the need for special
seals or nuts.
