1. Introduction
This guide is intended to provide general information specific to Qdoba
Restaurant locations and an instructional process on imaging the front POS
terminals. The following POS terminals are currently used in Qdoba
restaurants are:
• PAR ES7200
Qdoba uses the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite (QISS) to image the POS
terminals. This document will cover how to use this application.

2. Starting the Imaging Software Suite


1. Log into the BOH Server using an Administrative account
2. Open Windows Explorer
3. Navigate to C:\Program Files\AlohaSupportReady\Aloha Admin Service and
launch AlAdSrUI

4. Once the program has launched highlight the terminal to be re-imaged and
select Reload

5. The line for the terminal should now show an “R” in front of user name

6. Select Exit to close the program

7. Go to Start > Control Panel


8. Change View By to icons

9. Select 3Com PXE

10. Select the Network Adapters tab
11. Checkmark the box with the IP address for the Aloha NIC

12. Click OK
13. Close the window and select the 3Com TFTP icon
14. Select the Network Cards tab
15. Checkmark the box with the IP address for the Aloha NIC

16. Click OK and close the windows

17. Navigate to the D:\ partition


18. Right click on the Qdoba Imaging Software shortcut
19. Select Run as administrator to launch the application

20. The application will auto-detect to see if the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite
has been installed completely or not and will prompt the user to install the
application if not installed already.

21. The following Main Menu options available in the software suite are
(C) Create Front POS Terminal Backups and view IP Info
(M) Input MAC Address for the newly installed POS Terminals
(B) Start the BOOTPTAB Editor Application
(G) Start the Ghost Server Application
(Q) Exit the Imaging application

Important: It’s highly recommended to run a backup of the existing
terminal(s) before proceeding with the imaging process.

3. Create Terminal Backup and View IP Information


Terminal Backup Process

1. From the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite Main Menu, type “C” and then
press the Enter key to start the FOH terminal backup process

2. Wait for the backup process to complete (this may take several minutes)
3. Once the backup process is complete, the application will display the IP
configuration for each of the POS terminals configured in the system

a. Note the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway for all the
terminals on a separate notepad, which will be required while
configuring the terminal using manual method [Section 5.2]
4. Once all IP configurations have been noted for the POS terminals, press any
key to return to the Main Menu

If any POS terminals are unresponsive or not available on the


network, the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite will notify the user that
it was unable to access the specific terminal

4. POS Terminal Imaging Process


Terminal MAC Address Assignment Configuration

1. From the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite main menu, type “M” and then
press the Enter key to start the MAC Address configuration setup
2. The application will display the current MAC address for the POS terminal
and prompt the user to enter the new MAC address

Important: MAC Addresses MUST be entered using the following


format: 00:00:00:00:00:00

3. Type the new MAC address and hit the Enter key
a. If the MAC address is not changing or the physical POS terminal was
not changed, type “S” and hit Enter to leave the current MAC
Address in place
4. Once all MAC Addresses have been entered, the application will prompt to
confirm the above entered MAC addresses are correct

5. Type “Y” and hit the Enter key if the MAC addresses entered are correct
6. Type “N” and hit the Enter key to re-enter all MAC addresses
7. Once the MAC addresses are confirmed by the user, the system will update
all the necessary files with the new MAC address information, IP
configuration, and then navigate back to the Main Menu

BOOTPTAB Editor Configuration Pre-Deployment

1. From the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite Main Menu, type “B” and then
press the Enter key to launch the BOOTPTAB Editor application
2. The BOOTPTAB Editor application will open with a list of all the POS
terminals currently configured in the system

3. Confirm the MAC addresses (listed under the Address column) are correct
for each POS terminal
a. If any of the MAC addresses are incorrect, close the BOOTPTAB
Editor window and follow the instructions to input the MAC
addresses again as shown in Section 4.1
4. Double-click on one the devices that will be imaged to open the Edit Host
window

5. Click on the browse button (this button will be labeled “…”)


6. Browse to the D:\TFTPBOOT folder (if not already selected)

7. In the Files of type: field, click on the drop-down arrow
8. Select PXE files

9. Based on the following list, Select the appropriate PXE file

Terminal Type Image Name


PAR ES7200 Deploy.pxe

10. Click Open


11. Click on the OK button to confirm the selection of the image
12. Repeat the Steps 4 to 11 for each of the available devices being imaged

IMPORTANT: POS terminals and KC4 devices cannot be


imaged at the same time

13. Once all terminals that will be imaged have been configured as instructed,
click on the File menu, and select Save or press the Save Icon at thetop

DO NOT CLOSE THE BOOTPTAB EDITOR WINDOW


It is very important to save before continuing, otherwise the changes will not
take effect and the imaging process will fail
GhostCast Server Configuration

1. From the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite Main Menu, type “G” and then
press the Enter key to start the Ghost Server Application
a. If not already open, the BOOTPTAB Editor application will open along
with the Symantec GhostCast Server application

2. On the Symantec GhostCast Server window, type “restore” into the


Session Name text field
3. Confirm the Restore Image radio button is selected
4. Click on the Browse… button next to the Image File field
5. Navigate to the D:\TFTPBOOT folder, select the appropriate .GHO image
file, it should be the File with the most current date

YYYYMMDD = the date when the image was created


For example, an image created for terminal type PAR ES7200 on
09/19/2016 will have the name as 7200QD20160919.GHO

6. Click on the More Options >> button if available

7. Under the Client command line options, type “1” into the Disk No. field
8. Under the Auto Start, type the number of terminals being imaged into the
Client Count field
a. Example, if imaging two terminals, enter 2 into the Client Count field
b. Example, if imaging one terminal, type 1 into the Client Count field

9. Verify the information inputted is correct


10. Click on the Accept Clients button
11. Reboot all front POS terminals that will be imaged

DO NOT CLOSE THE GHOSTCAST SERVER UTILITY


The GhostCast Server must remain open and active until all POS terminals or
Kitchen devices have completed their imaging and installation process. Do
not close the programs till instructed to do so in Section 5.1

BOOTPTAB Editor Post Deployment

1. Once all POS terminal(s) begin the Ghost Image process, switch back to the
BOOTPTAB Editor window
2. Double-click on one of the listed terminals that was set to Deploy.pxe
earlier to open the Edit Host window
3. Click on the browse button (this button will be labeled “…”)
4. Browse to the D:\TFTPBOOT folder (if needed)
5. In the Files of type: field, click on the drop-down arrow
6. Select PXE files

7. Select BootHDD.pxe from the list of files


8. Click on the Open button and then the OK button
9. Repeat Steps 2-8 for each of the terminals being re-imaged (or set to
Deploy.pxe)
10. Once BootHDD.pxe has been set as the Image type for all the terminals,
click on File and select Save
a. Alternatively, you can also press the Save icon at the top

11. Verify the “[modified]” wording in the title no longer appears in the
BOOTPTAB Editor application (this confirms the new settings are saved)

a. If the modified still shows, repeat Step 10 above


12. It is now okay to close the BOOTPTAB Editor application only

IMPORTANT! SECTION 4.4 MUST BE


COMPLETED BEFORE CONTINUING
Section 4.4 must be completed before the POS Terminals complete the ghost
image process and reboot otherwise they will start the Ghost imaging process
again.

5. Terminal Post Image Configuration Process


Automated Terminal Configuration

1. The imaging process will take several minutes to complete


a. The remaining time left for the image to complete can be monitored
by watching it through the GhostCast Server application
2. Once the imaging process is complete on POS terminal(s), they will reboot
and start the automatic configuration process

If the imaging process starts again after terminal reboot, please


follow the instructions mentioned in Section 4.4 to stop it from
attempting to image again

3. After the reboot, the POS terminal(s) will load the Windows OS and
continue with the configuration process (you should see a screen likethe
one below)

4. During the configuration process, the POS terminal will automatically
configure all necessary settings and reboot multiple times
5. During this process, the terminal should also start NCR’s Remote
Application Loader (RAL) application
6. Once the automatic configuration process is complete, the RAL application
will prompt for the device type

7. It is now okay to close the Symantec GhostCast Server application


8. Close the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite by typing “Q” at the Main Menu
and hitting the Enter key
9. Log off of the BOH Server

RAL Front POS Terminal Configuration

1. Log into the FOH Terminal via VNC


2. When prompted with the below screen,
a. Press the POS option for POS Terminals
b. Press the KITCHEN option for KC4 devices

3. Select the appropriate workstation number for the terminal logged into
• Example: if logged into TERM1 select WS1
• Example: If logged into TERM2 select WS2

4. If there is only one POS terminal connected to the system, RAL may not give
you a choice and select the terminal automatically
5. RAL will start the terminal configuration process once a terminal has been
selected

6. POS will show a floating logo once complete


7. Repeat steps 1 – 6 for all connected POS terminals that were imaged

FreedomPay EMV Device
Once the image of the terminal is complete the PAL folder for the Freedompay
EMV device will need to be copied to the terminal.
1. Drop the terminal to the desktop
2. On the BOH server navigate to D:\Support\Freedompay
3. On the BOH server open another window and navigate to C:\Freedompay on
the terminal(s) that was re-imaged
4. Copy the PAL folder from D:\Support\Freedompay on the server to
C:\Freedompay on the terminal(s)
5. Reboot the terminal
6. Verify that MartinService.exe is running on the terminal once it has loaded
7. Verify that the location can accept credit cards on the EMV device

TML90 Network Printer Driver Install


Once the image is complete the driver for the network printer will need to be
installed.
1. Download the EPSON Advanced Printer Driver (for English model) specific
for TM-L90 Liner Free printers at the following link:
https://download.epson-
biz.com/modules/pos/index.php?page=single_soft&cid=6430&pcat=4&pid=2877
2. Extract the .ZIP contents to a temporary folder
3. In Command Center, navigate to the terminal that was re-imaged
4. Set to File Manager

5. Navigate to the C:\Staging\Epson on the terminal

6. Copy the extracted files to C:\Staging\Epson


7. Query the tasks running on the terminal
8. Kill the IberQs.exe and Radiant.Hospitality.ToGo.exe tasks
9. VNC to the terminal
10. Open a Windows Explorer
11. Navigate to C:\Staging\Epson\APD_458WM_L90LF
12. Hold down the SHIFT key and right-click the APD_458_L90LinerFree.exe
application
13. Select Run as a different user

14. Enter in a local admin users’ credentials such as “Term1”


15. Run through the installer prompts

a. Click Next
b. Select “I accept the terms..”
c. Click Next
d. Confirm “Minimum” is selected and click Next
e. Click Add to create a printer

f. Under Select driver choose “Epson TM-L90 Liner-Free-English”


g. Change the Printer name to “Epson TM-L90 Receipt”
h. Configure the Port Type to “Create an Ethernet port”
i. Checkmark “Set as Default Printer”

j. Click Next
k. Enter the IP Address for the remote printer
NOTE: This is determined during the Printer Network Configuration

l. Click Next
m. Click Next to confirm the printer config

o. Click Finish
16. Testing the network printer
a. Open Devices and Printers
b. Select the Epson TM-L90 Receipt printer
c. Right-click the printer and select Printer Properties

d. Select Print Test Page

e. Confirm the printer printed the test page


17. Reboot the POS Terminal

Fixing Gateway using GWFix.bat


a. Fixing Gateways Using the HughesGW.bat Context: RAL will push bad gateway
configurations to the terminals which prevent them from pulling patches
down from our remote management applications. The fixes for this are
manual at the moment, though our team is testing RAL version updates and
configuration changes to resolve this issue.
b. Upload GWFix.bat to the C:\ drive on Terminal that was reimaged. From with
the directory while connected to the term, or using the file structure in CMC,
execute GWFix.bat and then run an ipconfig /all to verify it updated.

NOTE: After the terminal is configured enter an incident for BigFix install for the
Infrastructure Team

6. Manual Terminal Configuration
In order to complete the Manual Configuration, a keyboard must be
connected to the POS terminal using any of the available USB ports

1. The imaging process will take several minutes to complete


a. The remaining time left for the image to complete can be monitored
by watching it through the GhostCast Server application
2. Once the imaging process is complete on POS terminal(s), they will
automatically reboot and start the automatic configuration process
3. If the POS is unable to contact the BOH Server or unable to read the
configuration file, the front POS terminal will show an error stating “Unable
to connect to the back office server…” on the screen (see below)

4. If this occurs, check the following possible reasons, correct them, and then
reboot the POS terminal to retry the auto configuration process
a. Network cable may be disconnected or loose
• Confirm the network cable is connected to the front POS
terminal and the link light is illuminated
b. Symantec GhostCast Server application is NOT running on the BOH
Server (this application must be running for the auto configuration to
complete successfully)
• Relaunch the GhostCast Server as instructed in Section 4.3

5. If the front POS terminal is unable to continue after the reboot, connecta
USB keyboard to the POS terminal in one of the available USB ports
6. Press any key on the keyboard to continue with the Manual Configuration
7. Type in the IP Address for the terminal using keyboard
The IP Address should have been noted previously from the Section 3

8. Review the IP address that was entered and type either


a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address
9. Type in the Subnet Mask for the terminal using the keyboard
a. The Subnet Mask should have been noted previously in the Section 3

10. Review the Subnet Mask that was entered and type either
a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address

11. Type in the Gateway IP for the terminal using the keyboard
a. The Gateway IP should have been noted previously in the Section 3

12. Review the Gateway IP that was entered and type either
a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address
13. The Terminal Configuration application will apply the IP configuration as
entered into the POS terminal and attempt to complete the rest of the
configuration steps automatically
14. If the POS is unable to find the configuration information on the BOH
Server, the front POS terminal will show an error stating “Variables.ini file
appears to be missing…” on the screen (see below)

15. If this occurs, check the following possible reasons, correct them, and then
reboot the POS terminal to retry the auto configuration process
a. The MAC address configuration is incorrect in the Variables.ini file
• Re-run the MAC address assignment through the Qdoba
Imaging Software Suite application in Section 4.1

16. If the front POS terminal is still unable to determine the configuration
settings on its own, connect a USB keyboard to the POS terminal in one of
the available USB ports
17. Press any key on the keyboard to continue with the Manual Configuration
18. Type in the Restaurant Number using the keyboard

Important: This number must be the full 4-digit store number

19. Review the Restaurant Number that was entered and type either
a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address
20. Type in the Terminal Number using the keyboard

21. Review the Restaurant Number that was entered and type either
a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address

22. Type in the Number of Terminals using the keyboard

Important: This number should be a 1-digit number

23. Review the Restaurant Number that was entered and type either
a. “Y” to confirm and continue or
b. “N” to re-enter the IP address
24. The Terminal Configuration application will apply the entered configuration
information into the POS terminal and attempt to complete the rest of the
configuration steps automatically (including multiple reboots)
25. During this process, the terminal should also start NCR’s Remote
Application Loader (RAL) application
26. Once the automatic configuration process is complete, the RAL application
will prompt for the device type

27. It is now okay to close the Symantec GhostCast Server application

28. Close the Qdoba Imaging Software Suite by typing “Q” at the Main Menu
and hitting the Enter key
29. Log off of the BOH Server
30. Continue to Section 5.2 to configure the terminal through the RAL
application
