CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

During my internship at AIRBIB, a startup operating in the real estate industry, I gained
valuable insights into the innovative solutions provided by the company and how they
effectively addressed customer pain points.

AIRBIB is a real estate agency which focuses its operations solely on luxury and premium
properties. It operates in the competitive and dynamic real estate market, where customers
often face challenges such as limited access to property listings, lack of transparency in
pricing, and inefficiencies in the traditional brokerage process. Recognizing these pain points,
AIRBIB developed solutions to streamline the property search and transaction process,
ultimately enhancing the experience for both buyers and sellers.

One of the key solutions offered by AIRBIB is they don’t charge any brokerage fee from their
customers or the buyers, rather they get a percentage of the ticket price as their fee from the
developers or the sellers.

Furthermore, AIRBIB addresses the issue of transparency in pricing by providing accurate

and up-to-date information on property listings. Customers can easily access details such as
pricing, square footage, amenities, and neighbourhood information, empowering them to
make informed decisions about which properties to consider. This transparency builds trust
with customers and helps to streamline the negotiation and transaction process.

In addition, this AIRBIB offers personalized support and guidance to customers throughout
the property buying or selling journey. Experienced agents are available to assist customers
with property inquiries, schedule viewings, negotiate offers, and navigate the paperwork
involved in closing a deal. This high level of customer service enhances the overall
experience and ensures that customers feel supported and informed every step of the way.

Overall, my internship experience at AIRBIB provided me with valuable insights into how
innovative solutions in the real estate brokerage industry can effectively address customer
pain points. Through its online platform, transparent pricing model, and personalized
customer support, AIRBIB is revolutionizing the way properties are bought and sold, making
the process more efficient, transparent, and customer-centric.

ORGANIZATIONAL HIERARCHY
The firm follows a flat organisational structure where there are only the interns, out TLs and
our Head. Here even though the chain of commands is linear most of the time, it can overlap.
Its more like a collaborative structure. Interns make the primary contact with the customers
with reference to their enquiry and know their requirements and needs and report it to the
TLs. We also try to get the customers to come for a site visit. The TL gives the interns the
data to work with, and the deal with much premium prospects. Our Head handles the overall
decision-making process and also does the same thing the TLs do, but with much bigger
prospects.

expertise of Broker in Blue, enabling it to leverage advanced tools and platforms to
streamline operations and enhance customer experiences.

Strong Industry Partnership: Being powered by Broker in Blue provides access to a

network of industry professionals, potential clients, and strategic partnerships, giving the

ensuring relevance and competitiveness.

Talented Team: The startup likely attracts top talent, including experienced professionals and
ambitious interns. This diverse team brings fresh perspectives, creativity, and expertise to
drive innovation and growth.

Weaknesses:
Dependency on Broker in Blue: While benefiting from the support of Broker in Blue, the
startup may also face challenges associated with dependency, such as limited autonomy in
decision-making or potential conflicts of interest.

Limited Brand Recognition: As a startup, the company may struggle with brand awareness
and visibility, especially compared to more established competitors in the real estate industry.

Resource Constraints: Limited financial resources and manpower may restrict the startup's
ability to scale operations or invest in marketing and expansion efforts.

Market Volatility: The real estate market can be subject to fluctuations in supply, demand,
and economic conditions. The startup may be vulnerable to market downturns or disruptions,
impacting revenue and growth prospects.

Opportunities:
Market Expansion: There is potential to expand into new geographic markets or target
different customer segments within the real estate industry, leveraging the resources and
expertise of Broker in Blue to support growth initiatives.

Diversification of Services: The startup could explore offering additional services beyond
traditional real estate brokerage, such as property management, investment advisory, or

reality tours, AI-driven analytics, and blockchain-based transactions, present opportunities for
the startup to differentiate its offerings and enhance customer experiences.

Strategic Partnerships: Forming strategic partnerships with other technology companies,

real estate developers, or financial institutions could open doors to new opportunities for
collaboration, innovation, and market penetration.

Threats:
Competitive Pressure: The real estate industry is highly competitive, with established firms
and new entrants vying for market share. Intense competition could exert downward pressure
on prices and margins, making it challenging for the startup to differentiate itself.

Regulatory Changes: Changes in government regulations or policies related to real estate

transactions, taxes, or zoning laws could impact the startup's operations and profitability.

Economic Uncertainty: Economic downturns, recessions, or global events (e.g., pandemics,

geopolitical tensions) could disrupt the real estate market, leading to decreased demand,
reduced property values, and financial instability.

Technological Disruption: Rapid advancements in technology, such as the rise of online

platforms, AI-driven algorithms, and alternative financing models, could disrupt traditional
brokerage models and pose a threat to the startup's business model if not effectively
addressed.

KEY LEARNINGS

The internship program at the startup powered by Broker in Blue provided me with
invaluable learning experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Here
are the key learnings I gained from the internship;

Real-World Application of Industry Concepts: Through hands-on experience, I gained a

deeper understanding of key concepts in the real estate industry, such as property valuation,
market analysis, and client management. Engaging directly with clients and properties
allowed me to see how these concepts are applied in practice.

Effective Communication Skills: Working in a fast-paced environment required clear and

concise communication with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. I learned to articulate
ideas, ask probing questions, and convey information effectively to ensure clarity and
understanding.

Time Management and Prioritization: Balancing multiple tasks and deadlines taught me
the importance of effective time management and prioritization. I honed my ability to set
goals, allocate resources, and focus on high-priority activities to maximize productivity and
meet deadlines.

New Skills Acquired:

Customer Relationship Management: Engaging with clients and providing personalized
support allowed me to develop strong customer relationship management skills. I learned to
anticipate client needs, address concerns proactively, and build trust and rapport to foster
long-term relationships.

Comparison and Contrast of Theory and Practice:

While theoretical knowledge provides a foundational understanding of concepts, practical
experience offers insights into their real-world application and nuances. Throughout the
internship, I observed several key differences between theory and practice;

Complexity of Decision-Making: While theory often presents decision-making as a rational

and straightforward process, practice revealed the complexities and uncertainties involved.
Decisions are often influenced by various factors, including market dynamics, client
preferences, and organizational constraints.

12
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Theory may emphasize specialized knowledge within
specific disciplines, whereas practice often requires interdisciplinary collaboration. Working
with colleagues from diverse backgrounds highlighted the importance of integrating multiple
perspectives and expertise to address complex challenges effectively.

Areas of Application of Management Concepts:

Several management concepts find practical application in the line of work assigned during
the internship:

Strategic Planning: Developing strategic plans to identify market opportunities, set

objectives, and allocate resources effectively.

Leadership and Team Management: Leading and managing teams to foster collaboration,
motivation, and accountability in achieving organizational goals.

Marketing Management: Applying marketing principles to promote properties, attract

clients, and differentiate the company's offerings in the competitive market.
