(i)The U/S face in the non-¬overflow portion be
checked minutely and cracks/holes, if any observed,
1 mapping be done for such cracks by remote operated E.O.I

c Masonry/Concrete dams & Spillways

Cracking in concrete (potential causes are alkali –

aggregate reaction, thermal stresses because of heat of
hydration or temperature variations, foundation
problems). Prepare the detailed report on this and

Tenughat Dam Division Tenughat.

Repair to upstream face of masonry dams in case the

pointing is damaged, leading to increased seepage. To

problems or dam failure. For this prepare the report
which comprises types and causes of concrete
deterioration and use of most suitable type of
concrete.
3
Repair the Damages on spillway glacis, spillway piers,
training/divide walls, energy dissipaters, downstream
areas (probable causes are cavitation, abrasion,
4 unsymmetrical flows, unfavourable downstream E.O.I
conditions). Prepare the detailed report on this and
submitted to Office of the Executive Engineer
Tenughat Dam Division Tenughat.

d General cleaning
As already suggested, for proper operation of
spillways, sluiceways, approach channels, inlet and
outlet structures, stilling basin/ energy dissipation
arrangements, discharge conduit, dam slopes, trash

racks, debris control devices etc., regular and thorough
cleaning and removal of debris is necessary. Cleaning
is especially important after large floods, which tend
to send more debris into the reservoir.

channels leading to the Tenughat Dam so that water is E.O.I
properly directed and contained within the channels.
(iii)Clean algae and dirt from the Tenughat Dam
staff gauges to allow easy reading.

f Embankment Protection E.O.I

(i)Maintain fences to provide site security and to
exclude livestock from the embankments. Repair E.O.I
damaged embankment surfaces.

C Water Quality Aspects

(i) Chemical and physical analysis of reservoir
water all water tests should be done confirming IS
Code IS 3025-11 (1983): Methods of sampling and
