GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS OF THE SCIENCE WEEK ACTIVITIES/ CONTESTS

I. CONTESTED EVENTS
A. SLOGAN WRITING CONTEST

1. Each group is required to send ONE MEMBER to participate in the SLOGAN WRITING contest.
2. The participants will create a slogan based on the topic given during the contest proper.
3. Each participant must prepare and bring their own Art materials to use during the contest.
4. The participants must bring:
- ¼ Illustration board
- Coloring materials (any medium)
- Permanent markers
- Other art materials needed
5. The top three (3) outputs will be recognized during the Awarding Ceremony, and
corresponding points will be added to the CUMULATIVE RANKING.
6. Each output will be judged based on the criteria below:

B. POSTER MAKING CONTEST

1. Each group is required to send ONE MEMBER to participate in the POSTER MAKING contest.
2. The participants will create a slogan based on the topic given during the contest proper.
3. Each participant must prepare and bring their own Art materials to use during the contest.
4. The participants must bring:
- ¼ Illustration board
- Coloring materials (any medium)
- Permanent markers
- Other art materials needed
5. The top three (3) outputs will be recognized during the Awarding Ceremony, and
corresponding points will be added to the CUMULATIVE RANKING.
6. Each output will be judged based on the criteria below:

C. ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

1. Each group is required to send ONE MEMBER to participate in the ESSAY WRITING contest.
2. Participants will compose an ESSAY using a topic given by the facilitator.
3. The essay must consist of an INTRODUCTION, BODY, and CONCLUSION. The overall format
that includes organization, mechanics and grammar, and originality will be observed. The
minimum word count is 300.
4. The topic or the subject matter will be given on the day of the contest.
5. The essay must be handwritten neatly and clearly in a SHORT BOND PAPER.
6. The participants are not allowed to bring or to use any gadget during the contest. However,
they are allowed to bring a PHYSICAL copy of the DICTIONARY or the THESAURUS.
7. The top three (3) outputs will be recognized during the Awarding Ceremony, and
corresponding points will be added to the CUMULATIVE RANKING.
8. Each output will be judged based on the criteria below:

D. COOKING CONTEST
1. Each group is required to participate in the COOKING CONTEST.
2. The group must consist of FIVE to SIX members to join the category.
3. Each group must cook and prepare a meal that is NUTRITIOUS suitable for lunch or dinner
time.
4. The participating group must prepare and bring their own ingredients and cooking materials
to use during the contest. It is also noted that all materials are in the sole responsibility of
the participants and not the school nor its committee.
5. The top three (3) outputs will be recognized during the Awarding Ceremony, and
corresponding points will be added to the CUMULATIVE RANKING.
6. Each output will be judged based on the criteria below:

E. OTHER CATEGORIES
a. MOST ACTIVE (1 WINNER)
b. MOST DISCIPLINED (1 WINNER)
c. EARLY BIRDS (FIELD TRIP AND TEAM BUILDING) (FIRST TEAM TO COMPLETE MEMBERS)
d. FLAG MAKING, CHEER AND YELL, AND OBSTACLE RACE (TOP THREE)

II. SCORING SYSTEM AND CUMULATIVE RANKING


In each contested event during the Science week, winners and participants will get
corresponding points. These points will be added and accumulated in a table that will soon
determine the OVERALL CHAMPION of the 2024 Science Week.

The table below shows the Scoring system that will project the breakdown of points of each
contested event:
