REVIEWER IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 Behaviors - that affect health come from good eating habits, getting enough sleep, and
ability to manage stress
 Chronic stress - occurs when someone experiences repeated and continuing demands
that inhibit the person’s functions
 Safety Precaution – It is a precaution that is taken in order to ensure that something is
safe and not dangerous.
 Emergency Action Plan (EAP) - It is a plan developed for immediate implementation
whenever the need arises, providing appropriate standards of emergency care to all
present
 Emergency Personnel – It refers to detailed First Aid arrangements for on-site
emergencies; may consist of teachers, physicians and nurses, athletic coaches, security,
and maintenance personnel (for schools), or community leaders, and homeowners’
association president, (for community).
 Emergency Communication – It pertains emergency numbers, phones/two-way radio,
public announcement (PA) system.
 Emergency Equipment – It refers to first aid kit, wheelchair, spine board, stretcher,
blankets, and poles.
 Medical Transportation – It refers to the confirmation of local ambulance (c/o PRC),
Basic Life Support.
 Non-medical Transportation – wheelchairs, stretcher, Emergency Contact List – clinic,
local hospital.
 Venue Information – It refers to transportations, identified entrance, exits, and access
routes.
 Injury – Also known as physical trauma, it refers to the damage to the body caused by
external force. This may be caused by accidents, falls, hits, weapons, and other causes.
 Emergency – It is a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or
environment
 Stress - is the “wear and tear” our mind and body experiences as we attempt to cope
with our continually changing environment. It is also defined as the reaction people have
in excessive pressures or other types of demand placed upon them.
 Eustress (Positive Stress) - refers to moderate or normal psychological stress interpreted
as being beneficial for the experiencer.
 Distress (Negative Stress) – extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.
 HEALTH - pertains to a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and
not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
 HEALTH BEHAVIORS - are actions of individuals that affect their health. These
include actions that lead to improved health, such as eating well and being physically
active; and actions that increase one's risk of disease, such as smoking, excessive
alcohol intake, and risky sexual behavior.
 Carotene helps for good eyesight.
 Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) helps give energy.
 Niacin (B-complex Vitamin) is responsible for the release of energy for carbohydrates,
fats, and proteins
 Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is important in maintaining tendons, ligaments, and other
supportive tissue. It also helps in the easy healing of wounds, and in the repair of
broken bones as well.
 Health Risk Factor is anything that increases a person’s chances of getting a disease
or other health-related condition.

 Roles of Physical Activities in Managing One’s Stress:


 It is easier to deal with stressors when we are healthy from regular physical
activity.
 Exercise is meditation in motion.
 Physical activity improves your mood.
 It reduces the body stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol
 Exercise stimulates the production of endorphins (Positive hormones)
