GV chấm thi 2:
And these days, The benefits of the free trade agreements will enable Vietnam’s economic
development to continue to shift away from exporting low-tech manufacturing products and primary
goods to more complex high-tech goods like electronics, machinery, vehicles, and medical devices.
This can be done in two ways – first, through more diversified sourcing partners through larger
trade networks and cheaper imports of intermediate goods from partner countries, which should
boost the competitiveness of Vietnam’s exports.
Second – through partnership with foreign firms that can transfer the knowledge and technology
needed to make the jump into higher value-added production. An example of this is the recently
launched VSmart phone manufactured by Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup.
With recent trade agreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-
Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), EU-Vietnam FTA (EVFTA), UK-Vietnam FTA (UKVFTA) in effect,
and the upcoming Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) – Vietnam seems to
prioritize international trade integration trade partners outside ASEAN.
Such trade agreements will allow Vietnam to take advantage of the reduced tariffs, both within the
ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and with the EU and US to attract exporting companies to
produce in Vietnam and export to partners outside ASEAN.
Question 3:
From the information from trademap, we have this table
From my perspective, the most effective product for product with HS code 640411 is China.
Following are my explainations:
First, although China has a low level of market share (2.6%), they haave quite high annual growth in
value from 2016-2020 (49%). And recent years 2019-2020, their annual growth in value is 76%.
Second, the value of shoes imported by China has shown a dramatic increase from 86429 in 2016 to
444616 in 2020
Third, the average distance of supplying countries is 2875km, which means that they mostly import
shoes from surrounding countries like Vietnam, Thailand,.... So their taste and demand are quite
matched with those of Vietnamese people
Forth, the concentration of supplying countries is 0.62. So about 2 biggest countries are dominant in
this field. As a result, the level of competition is low, and if we can enter those market, it is very
profitable
Regarding to the market access condition, in particular tariff rate, here are my findings:
It can be seen that China and Vietnam are members of WTO, so the MFN tariff is 10%. However,
we are also member of ASEAN countries, and so China apply preprential tariff with Vietnam 0% if
we can meet up to some up their requirements.
Regarding to NTMs, here are my findings:
It is prohibited to import directly or indirectly from countries or regions where BSE occurs cattle,
cattle embryo, beef semen, beef products(including bovine organs) and their products, ruminants,.
I. [ ]Artiodacty and artiodactyl products shipped before 11 April 2006 shall be allowed to import
only if the result for food and mouth disease virous SAT2 is negative.
In short, we have SPS, TBT requirements
