Air-entraining agent for frost-resistant concrete with and without de-icing agents

WHERE TO USE
Mapeair LP X9 is an air-entraining agent used for the fabrication of frost-resistant concrete with and without de-icing
agents. Mapeair LP X9 increases the workability of the concrete and its resistance to aggressive agents.

Some application examples

· for the fabrication of concrete resistant to frost and de-icing salt;
· in road construction;
· in tunnel construction;
· in bridge construction;
· for the fabrication of concrete elements and precastconcrete.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The addition of Mapeair LP X9 to concrete in the mixing process results in the formation of small, closed air pockets,
which may serve as expansion space for freezing water in the cured concrete. Moreover, these air pockets reduce the
absorption of the capillary pores and increase the workability of the fresh concrete due to its ball-bearing effect. Mapeair
LP X9 does not cause later activation and thus ensures the air content in the fresh concrete to remain constant.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The following test reports and certificates are available on demand:
· compatibility of Mapeair LP X9 with Dynamon-superplastizicers;
· CE certificate: CE-marking and declaration of performance according to EN 934-2:2009+A1:2012, tables 5.

HOW TO USE
The formation of air pockets depends on factors such as temperature, the fines content, the combination with other
concrete admixtures and the mixing time. The dosing of Mapeair LP X9 has to be determined in the initial type testing and
in accordance with the desired air content. It is not recommended to add Mapeair LP X9 to the dry mixture. Instead, it is
recommended to add the product along with the mixing water. It is also necessary to check the air content during the
processing of the concrete. The current standards and regulations regarding the fabrication of concrete must be adhered
to.
ATTENTION: Mapeair LP X9 must not be diluted. A simultenous dosing together with Mapeplast BV products is not
recommended. The products are however compatible in the concrete mix.

DOSAGE
Recommended dosage:
0.2 % to 0.6 % by cement weight

Permitted maximum dosage:

1.0 % by cement weight
If the dosage of Mapeair LP X9 cannot be optimised, consult our technical service for testing the other air entraining
agents of Mapeair LP X product range.

PACKAGING
25 kg, 220 kg, 1000 kg IBC and bulk

STORAGE
Store in a dry place for no longer than 1 year.
Protect from frost and direct sunlight.

DISPOSAL OF WASTE
Completely emptied containers or product residues must be disposed according to the valid local guidelines.
