TNEA Rank List 2023 - DoTE, Tamil Nadu released the TNEA 2023 rank list on June 26 on the official
website, tneaonline.org. Candidates have to provide their email id and password to check the TNEA
rank list 2023. Candidates willing to get admission through TNEA can check their position of merit
through the rank list of TNEA 2023. The authorities prepared the TNEA rank list 2023 on the basis of
marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying exam.

It must be noted that the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed subjects of the
qualifying exam are reduced to the base of 200 (Mathematics- 100 and Physics +Chemistry - 100) in
order to prepare the rank list of TNEA 2023. The authorities also use a normalization method for
preparing the TNEA 2023 engineering rank list. It should be noted that the authorities will release a
separate category-wise and overall rank list of TNEA. Candidates whose name appears in the merit

Steps to check TNEA 2023 Rank List

Candidates can refer the following steps to check the TNEA rank list 2023-

• Visit the official website tneaonline.org.

• Click on the TNEA 2023 rank list link.

• Enter the registered email Id and password to access the TNEA login 2023.

• TNEA rank list PDF 2023 will be displayed on the screen.

• Download the TNEA rank list PDF.

Preparation of TNEA Rank List 2023

DoTE prepares the TNEA 2023 engineering rank list on the basis of marks secured by the candidates
in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination. The previous year, the authorities reduced
the marks secured by the candidates in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to the base of 200. The
marks in Mathematics have a higher weightage i.e 100 marks while marks in Physics & Chemistry are
combined and converted out of 100 marks (Mathematics= 100 & Physics + Chemistry = 100).

In the case of vocational stream candidates, the marks are converted to the base 200. The
conversion will be done as-

Vocational subjects including theory and practical-100 marks

Normalization Method for Preparing TNEA 2023 Rank list

DoTE follows a normalization method to equalize the marks secured by the candidates in the
qualifying examination from different boards. The authorities have equated the marks secured by
the candidates from different boards with the state board of Tamil Nadu. Students can refer to the
following example to understand the normalization method of TNEA 2023.

Example- If the highest marks secured by a student of the State Board of Tamil Nadu in Physics are
100 and the highest marks secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90 then
both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100. If a student of the other Board secures
60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will be
considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below.

(100 x 60)/90 = 66.66 %

After normalization of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by
different Boards, qualified students will be included in a common TNEA rank list.

Inter se Merit of TNEA 2023

The authorities prepare inter se merit in case of two or more candidates have the same marks in the
qualifying examination. The following rule is used to prepare TNEA 2023 inter se merit-

• In case of a tie, a candidate with higher percentage marks in Mathematics will be given a higher
rank.

• If the tie still persists, a candidate with higher percentage marks in Physics will be given a higher
TNEA rank 2023.

• If the tie still persists, a candidate with higher percentage marks in the fourth optional subject will
be given a higher TNEA 2023 rank.

• If the tie still persists, the candidate older in age will be given a higher TNEA rank.

• If the tie still persists, the tie will break on the basis of the TNEA 2023 Random Number.
Candidates with higher values of Random Numbers will be given a higher rank.

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the TNEA 2023 rank are eligible to participate in the
counselling process. The authorities are conducting the TNEA 2023 counselling online mode.
Candidates have to select their preferred choices of colleges and courses during the TNEA
counselling process 2023.

Final TNEA 2023 seat allotment will be done on the basis of the rank list, availability of seats, and
preferences set by the candidates. The result of the final seat allotment will be released on the
official website. Selected candidates will have to report to the allotted institutes for payment of
admission fees.
